Offense = Leafs
Defense = Oilers
Goalie = Both (Although it’s leaning towards the oilers, Koskinen’s a beast)

2 best players right now versus probably the best core group in hockey. Definitely taking the core on that one. If EDM had a substantially better defenseman then I would give it to them, but alas

So does Toronto lol. Both are top heavy in forwards, but EDM has the better blueline.

I am willing to bet EDM is the better team in the playoffs. Toronto can have the regular season lol

Except you can argue that EDM has just as good of offense now.

Yea definitely. If it came to a Leafs vs Oilers series, I’d hand it to the Oilers. Leafs aren’t deep enough and they can’t rely on Engvall and a few other rookies to win.

offense = Leafs
defense = Oilers (gap is closer here than on forwards)
Goalies = Leafs

Leafs are better, but not by much.

Offense = Leafs (depth for days and only slight issue is LW depth but Robertson could fix that)
Defense = Edmonton but Toronto isnt far behind and could be the same next season as Ceci and Barrie will be gone and they got a good chunk of defensive prospects who could become difference makers in a few years.
Goaltending = Toronto (Freddie had a bad year sure but his numbers have been solid and with Campbell we could see the perfect tandem as Campbell could become the next Markstrom as both are late bloomers). (Smith and Koskinen are good but cant play alot of games without there numbers falling so good at a 1a/1b system)

How can you compare Edmonton's 2nd, 3rd, or 4th line to that of Toronto's. I know you have some major hate towards Toronto but that is completely unrealistic. Toronto has arguably the best depth in the league, not only saying this as a Leafs fan, but as a hockey fan in general. A third line of Johnsson-Kerfoot-Kapanen is 100x better than Edmonton's Athanasiou-Sheahan-Archibald. Come on...

Or that blueline that sucks at defense after Muzzin and Holl lol

I'd go Edmonton. They have a better Blueline and the two best players. I think they addressed their lack of depth well at the deadline. I'm not a believer in either team's goaltending, but Edmonton had the edge this season.

Personally, I think trading one of Marner or Nylander would be the best option. For each one you can get a top 6 forward and a top 4 defensemen.

I’d argue the contrary on that. They did have weak depth last season but Holland really addressed that. We have 10 double digit goal scorers to the Leafs 6. Adding Archibald, Sheahan, Athanasiou, Ennis, Neal and the emergence of Yamamoto are all part of why this years team is so much better than last’s. I’d argue Edmonton is one of the deeper teams in the league

Il take mcdavid Leon and nuge over leafs core fwds without thought.
I’d take oilers young blueline over the leafs without a thought.
Goaltending il give leafs the edge but satisfied with kosk.

Edmonton's 2nd line is much better than Toronto's. Their bottom-6, not so much.

Dude Edmonton has awful depth.

Let’s just say their top 6 is:

AA-McDavid-Kassian
RNH-Drai-Yams

Their third line is
Ennis-Sheehan-Archibald
Both Sheehan and Archibald aren’t third line players.

Toronto’s third line of:
Johnsson-Kerfoot-Kap
Smokes it’s

Edmonton’s third line is probably the worst in the league among playoff teams. At least one of them.

You wanna compare nuge leon and yam to the leafs second line...... I’m sorry but that line was the best line in hockey since being put together...

I mean...

Miykalev-Tavares-Marner is an excellent 2nd line.
Drai > Tavares
Marner > RNH
Yams > Miykalev

Edmonton’s is better but it’s still a great 2nd line. I wouldn’t say it’s wayyyyy better

Your right that bottom six sucks they only accounted for a super strong pk and Neal was lights on pp. I don’t know how can compare oilers are from top to bottom better

Their bottom 6 is weak and Neal is bad even strength. Neal got on that insane hot streak in November and hasn’t done anything since.

Leafs are better than Edmonton. Better forwards and better goaltending

By winning percentage:

Edmonton .585
Toronto .579

Too close to call IMO, so I don't blame either fanbase for leaning to their home side. I'm not sure if it means anything going forward, but Edmonton was clearly the better team in the 2nd half of the season. From January 1st onward:

6. EDM .638 (100 GF - 82 GA)
19. TOR .552 (92 GF - 92 GA)

Both teams played 29 games in that span, so we're comparing apples to apples.

Johnsson plays on Toronto's 2nd line next to Matthews.
