While it's better to have the proven asset (CC), I think it behooves NJ to go with Slavkovsky, as he gives them something they don't have in a (potentially) top 6 role (size, reach, wing with strong board play) ...

Its a good offer for Caufield, I just don't think Montreal has any interest in moving him and that's not an offer they can't refuse.

MTL still pass. Not that it's a terrible offer, but Caufield is far more of a sure thing at this point. He was basically just below a 50-goal 80pts pace when Marty St-louis came in (22 goals 35pts in 37 games), now expecting that pace next season right out of the gate is a little unrealistic, but being conservative and expecting 35-40 goals 65-70pts is completely fair at this point.

So trading a 21 year old that can give you 35-40g 65-70pts or more, for an 18 year old guy (Slaf) you hope can turn into the same thing, but with more size, makes no sense to do.

Too much for Caufield. I’d give MTL Zacha, Tatar, Foote, 2nd this year and first in 2024. They should accept given the value they put on 2OA this is right in line with that.

to be fair I think the vast majority of the Devils fans making "offers" for trading 2OA are doing so in response to certain Habs fans arguing that Josh Anderson, Logan Mailloux, and the 26th pick they own are enough to trade straight up for #2.

Honestly I think McLeod + Skinner could have greater impact than Mercer... and Zacha doesn't have a ton of value. I see what you're trying to do though.

I've seen Devils fans call Josh Anderson a cap dump. Seravallli confirmed that was absolutely wrong this weekend and one Devils fan calling Seravalli a nobody. Frank broke the Seattle draft and Price waiving his NMC a day before anyone knew. Probably the most plugged in person in the NHL. How do you talk to such a delusional fan base like that whom thinks they know more than an insider like Frank.

Habs fans have been consistently criticized on here and were right about every TDL deal except maybe 2 people going overboard. I havent seen one Devils fan so far in the ballpark of reality.

I mean that's on that person if they think Seravelli is a nobody. I personally prefer Elliotte Friedman (and boy do I miss Maragarita Bobby) but Frank's alright.

As far as Josh Anderson, I think the general vibe I get from a lot of folks on this board is similar to the Chiarot talk around the deadline - "yeah, sure, somehow some team is going to pony up a 1st rounder for him but dear god I hope it isn't *my* team doing it".
