Messing around with a retoolrebuild
How is Pageau worth a 1st more than Johansen? They have nearly identical production and Pageau has worse 5v5 xG differential/60 (Pageau -0.88 and Johansen -0.31) and RelTM xG differential/60 (Pageau -0.59 and Johansen -0.35)
Plus Pageau costs an extra 1M per year and has 1 more year of term. If anything NYI should be adding

2023-2024 NHL Discussion Thread #4: Deadline is Approaching
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>zk97</b></div><div>the scouting reports seem to be based on the level of competition they face. So Stankoven is rated as an 89 against 2nd line AHL competition while Duchene is rated 85 against 2nd line NHL competition (or at least that's what I've gotten from this)</div></div>
That makes the most sense to me but if that's what they mean then there should be something indicating he is being evaluated based on AHL standards
We shouldn't have to guess what scale they are being scored on

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Who are some of the best energy, sparkplug guys in NHL?
I am not thinking pests, fighters, hitters…but more of the type that is going full speed when the rest of the team may be flat? NJD has had guys like Miles Wood, Blake Coleman, Michael McLeod play that role in the past.
So who else fits that type of role? On your team or any other team.</div></div>
Im biased but the Avs have a ton of guys that fit that description imo - the Wood-Colton-O'Connor line is extremely fast and Nichushkin + Lehkonen are relentless

Is this a mistake? <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/scouting-reports/report/logan-stankoven-425657">Logan Stankoven Scouting Report</a>
Before playing a single NHL game he is listed as an 89 overall 2nd liner while <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/scouting-reports/report/matt-duchene-224526">Matt Duchene</a> is rated as a 85 overall 2nd liner. I know there are different overall rating scales but as far as I can tell they are rated in the same scale since they are both listed at the same talent type (professional), position (centre), projection (2nd line), and trending (under NHL contract)

Avs dont really have a need for Pezzetta but getting Allen retained and getting rid of Johansen without giving up any assets is a huge win

Next Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vanilla_Thunder_14</b></div><div>Is this coming from a more COL perspective? The value for Kent in keeping another retention spot with Petry already there is worth withholding a higher pick. I do think you have a point from a COL thought though if they need the extra $1.85M space but if we can match those contracts then I wonder if the retention is needed.</div></div>
Yeah from COL's perspective it doesnt make sense for the cap. If MTL wants to keep a retention slot then it could go through a 3rd party team

Upgrade the pick coming from COL and add 50% retention on Allen and then it could make sense

Suggestions Megathread
Could you add more filters to the scouting reports page? I find its difficult to find players that can be compared directly since you cannot filter by 'talent level' or 'projection'. It would be nice if I could put a filter to only look at 2nd pair defensemen (for example) and then sort by overall

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TJTwolf</b></div><div>Doozy of a young top pairing for NYR but I don't see a piece on the Rangers that makes sense for the Avs. No young or long term signed 2C to trade, so unless the Avs had that lined up elsewhere it wouldn't have any logic to it. Trochek would be ideal but he basically signed with the Rangers because he wanted to stay east IIRC. Zib would be too expensive to acquire (and too big a cap hit), and Goodrow isn't good enough. There also aren't any prospect C's in the Rangers organisation that I can think of that are ready to make the jump.</div></div>
Chytil would be nice but hes out for the year

Neither of those guys make much sense for the Avs imo. RW is full with Rantanen, one of Nichushkin/Lehkonen, O'Connor, and Kovalenko once his KHL season is over, and LD is stacked with Toews Girard and Byram. I dont see the point in moving Byram out just to replace him with another LD
Unless Chytil or Trocheck were available then I dont really see the fit, and I doubt NYR would trade Trocheck and Chytil is out for the year

It does kinda make sense as a 1 stop shop for the Avs. Fills all of their biggest needs assuming those players keep performing the way they have this season

I dont see the need for Ferraro and Studnicka is not an upgrade over any of the Avs forwards. If you want a 4C from them Id look at Carpenter
Kahkonen would be a fine trade target to back up Georgiev
Granlund is kinda risky but I can see the appeal there

Avs arent taking on 2 extra years of a cap dump. Worst case Avs will pay to dump Johansen - it would cost significantly more to dump Goodrow with that extra term. A depth player and a late pick doesnt make up for that
