Avs trade this year
If the Avs are giving up Byram then Mercer has to be involved. McLeod just isn't valuable enough to be the main piece

AVS Deal - Byram
I think Avs would pass. With the season Hronek is having and his arb rights he could get a fortune next season which the Avs won't be able to afford. Also with Girard in player assistance it leaves the left side a bit weak behind Toews
VAN is also probably better off with Hronek anyway, he makes a great pair with Hughes

If you want to swap Kuznetsov and Johansen then retain 3.8M on Kuznetsov and it can be a straight swap

Any chance you would trade Danault to allocate more cap to a goalie? I bet the Avs would make a big offer if he was available

Giroux would make a lot of sense for the Avs if he would waive his NMC
1st + 3rd + Ritchie would be my offer, but the price would really depend on how many teams he would be willing to waive for

Bro... on-ice means the stays accrued while they are on the ice. With five other teammates. These are NOT individual stats. I cannot possibly dumb this down any more.
Get it or don't, we're done here. I feel like I'm Mike Tyson battering a baby squirrel. Feels icky.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>badoob</b></div><div>RAPM charts account for the players impact. Their xG produced offensively and defensively, etc etc. You’re choosing to toss it aside because “muhhh, the player has teammates!!11!!” Yeah, the model knows that.
Parayko is still average, and get off your high horse. I know how the charts work, you’re choosing to ignore them because they don’t fit your narrative.
If you don’t like RAPM charts, plenty of other public models don’t favour Parayko either. But let me guess, he played good in 2021 on a blue moon tuesday game?</div></div>
They use on-ice stats for raw data but the whole point of RAPM is to use that data and control for teammates (and a ton of other factors) to isolate an individual players impact

I went for (in my opinion) the 12 best players with an emphasis on skill over hockey IQ without trying to balance age, nationality, position, conference, etc. Honourable mention to Pettersson, hes interchangable with a couple guys on my list

He was used as a forward sometimes in Colorado too. Him and MacDermid were both slotted in at whatever position they needed based on injuries

What a strange time for Calgary to sell, should've waited until the deadline or at least until one of the multiple interested teams got desperate and offered enough to justify getting a deal done early. This is underwhelming

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RazWild</b></div><div>Uh huh, and let's not pretend that Faber's defense isn't so many magnitudes better than Byram's here either. Byram is an offensive defenseman whose is barely an average defender. While Faber is a defensive shutdown defenseman whose is solid offensively.
Comparing the two stylistically is moronic and an apples to oranges affair. Especially when Faber is closer to a Jonas Brodin, Adam Pelech, Jacob Slavin, or Devon Toews type of defender. That doesn't diminish his value, it's just a different TYPE of value. This has nothing to do with skillset and absolutely everything to do with PLAYER VALUE.
Furthermore, Byram is hardly a #1 on most teams, he's maybe a #2 but primarily a #3. Same as faber.
Their VALUE is the same, regardless of who does what, or plays a certain way.
But you want to mouth off about being homer'ish. Pot meet kettle.</div></div>
Gotta agree with you guys on this one. Currently Byram and Faber are roughly equal while JEE >> Johansen + Ritchie + 1st

Spurgeon and Faber will be the PP guys</div></div>
Same role doesnt mean same player. Sean Durzi is playing 1st pair 23 mins a night and PP1 QB, that doesnt make him the same player as Cale Makar

2023-24 NHL Season Discussion Thread #1: Here we Go!
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>People ask why Addision was moved well he was not trusted by his coaches, Evason really seemed to hate him for being mostly one dimensional, and he had an incident with Spurgeon but I think that ones overblown
Its for the best for both sides
Spurgeon and Faber can QB 1 and 2 and Addision can go have fun in SJS QB unit 1 and just chill
But yea there were some saying DeAngelo. Man if Wild do that they really stupid lul. As it makes 0 sense on all fronts you had a guy making half whose the same, had a coach who hates that type of player, and adding a guy with attitude issues who costs double what Addison did lul
Got a feeling if CAR is moving a player its Chatfield</div></div>
Addison wasnt trusted at all at 5v5 - he had the lowest EV TOI/GP among MIN defensemen last season and 2nd lowest this season (behind Daemon Hunt's first 4 career games). But just because they didnt trust him doesnt necessarily mean they wont trust any offensive D man - they just traded for Klingberg last season and played him 20 mins per game
DeAngelo could fill a similar role to Klingberg and, although he isnt good defensively overall, he is still better defensively than Klingberg and would be the best PPQB they have by far*. Maybe they dont like his off ice baggage but I dont see how its a stupid idea aside from that
*
Fabers game isnt really suited to a PP role, hes more of a defensive guy. Plus he has basically no PP experience at the NHL level
Spurgeon is kinda underwhelming as a PP1 QB, hes better suited for PP2. Career 3.72 PPP/60 is pretty poor for a #1 PP option
DeAngelo has a career 5.41 PPP/60 which put him in the company of Hedman, Dahlin, Josi, Barrie, and other top PP D men
and for comparison sake Addison has a career 4.38 PPP/60

Those dont make for very competitive PP units imo
DeAngelo on PP1 and Spurgeon on PP2 would be significantly more productive
Lambos hasnt been productive in the AHL and hes only 20. That isnt going to help their PP this season, maybe in a few years

Makes 0 sense
They got Spurgeon, and Faber who can run a PP</div></div>
I dont think Fabers game is suited to a PP1 role - hes always been highly touted for his defensive play, not for his offense. Same with Spurgeon - he has a career 3.72 PPP/60 and has never had over 14 PPP (17.7 PPP pace) in a season. Thats fine for a PP2 option but ideally you would have someone better for PP1. DeAngelo has a career 5.41 PPP/60 and has 3 seasons where hes been on pace for over 20 PPP
