Expansion Draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vegasloveforthebills</b></div><div>What would Philly want for Patrick?

I think Vegas should go for a guy like Nolan Patrick or Dylan Strome to be their 2C. Patrick's value should be low right now.

My team
First off Buffalo should not be trading any college prospects that could help them. Second Vegas isn't moving Smith unless they are getting NHL depth. Third any trade with Cody Eakin immediately should include a 1st to take that black hole of offense. There is a reason Vegas moved on from Eakin.

2 Options - Number 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vegasloveforthebills</b></div><div>In this model, what do you think the cost for Perron would be, if there is one.
Vegas needs depth scoring, and the one team he would probably waive his NTC for is Vegas. And he is a fit here
Don’t know if a trade like that would help St. Louis with the expansion draft protections either.</div></div>
Hard to give a price because I know they won't move him (leading scorer) and it's doubtful he'd accept a trade anyway- but if they were going full "fire sale" I would think he could bring back a 1st and a pretty good prospect at least. 2 yr rental and producing well above his 4m cap hit.

Another crack at it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vegasloveforthebills</b></div><div>With Sheahan, what would need to be added to include Girgensons? Another pick like a 4th rounder?
His LTIR would help this year, and the next 2 he could be Noseks replacement when he hits UFA again.</div></div>
I'd say a 4th and a 5th would suffice for Girgensons and Sheahan

Pacioretty and Pietrangelo skating again
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vegasloveforthebills</b></div><div>I thought about Holden but I think they are worried about losing him now for nothing
I thought Nosek could get traded because he’s a pending UFA, but probably not now
I think Vegas has Martinez at 2.5 or less and if he wants more than that they will just let him walk. I could see a situation though similar to Holden last year, where are they say to him on trade deadline week here is a contract, sign it or we may trade you because we need cap space. Kinda forcing his hand.</div></div>
Given the role that Holden has now been asked to fill, he's been excellent. He's not going to win you games, but he's not going to cost you games. Having that security is huge especially as injuries start to pile up.
I wondered about Nosek too, but depth right now is so important...he's staying. (but in the off season he's probably elsewhere as guys like Krebs and Dugan etc will all be knocking at the door)
I have to believe K-Mac has already chatted with Marty's agent. And if that's true, the fact that he's still not been extended tells me that either 1) the dollars are too far apart or 2) he wants to go home to Detroit and finish off his career there (and possibly make more money likely too). Losing Marty would be a huge blow in my opinion.

.933 SV% at 3.5M for 1.5 years returns a whole lot more than Kerfoot.

I have a couple guys I would be interested in if he was though.</div></div>
I think they should strongly consider just “faking” the length of his injury. Bring him back for the playoffs like Kucherov and the lightning and go out to get someone. They are definitely in the playoffs now, so no need to worry about that.

Vegas can’t say no fast enough. Brisson is a top 5 prospect in their organization and Smith is invaluable to the team playing both PP and PK. I don’t think they really want Hall either.

Ok thank you. I swear when I looked that you guys needed a left D. Maybe I looked when someone was injured. Hmmmmm No worries and thank you

New Take
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vegasloveforthebills</b></div><div>I actually get it. I actually wouldn’t be shocked if they bought a little too.
SJ is 11-13-4 but 5 of those regulation losses are to VGK. They are actually pretty decent against the 6 other teams at 11-8-4
ST Louis in their last 20 games, starting 4/2, play Vegas/Col/Minny 17 times combined. They could have a rough final 6 weeks.</div></div>
The win/loss record suggests at the least an okay team and I agree we aren't horrible, but that stat line doesn't tell the full story. SJ has gotten somewhat lucky in those games that went to a shootout or they ended up winning. Like the Blues game last night, the score should have been like 4-1 STL at the end of the game but Jones was a brick wall back there. Sharks are undoubtedly way worse than MIN, STL, COL and VGK when those teams are mostly healthy. I'd say we're on par with ARI and LAK, ANA being the only team we're for sure better than. Even if we're better than the latter 3 I mentioned, the Sharks aren't making it into the playoffs (even if the Blues stink the last half of the year), so I don't think there's any reason to buy unless a totally irresistible offer comes up.

I don't think the Kings make any moves at the Deadline unless a team wants to three-way trade to retain cap space for this season (maybe next) for picks/prospects.

Pittsburgh doesn't have the cap for Fleury's full contact. Also, Lehner has been injured and bad so far this season. This also this complicates who the Knights protect up front in expansion.

Not just that, but getting one elite prospect and multiple first round picks is a must.
For those of you who think Buffalo should be getting a very good roster player I say: getting such a player would hinder a proper rebuild.
