Another stab at next season now that Petey is locked up
I can't see Vancouver being in on Zegras. Don't think tocchet would be a fan of his at all.

My guess on the Canes offer for Petey
It seems about right. We know the Canes wouldn't hesitate to trade Pesce if he won't extend at a reasonable dollar <em>and</em> could be used to bring in a player of Petey's caliber. Pesce might have been a player discussed as well.
Honestly, I think Petey learned a bit about the business side of things. The team has to have clarity on its future and his contract is the first piece to address. The longer he waits to re-sign/not re-sign, it only impacts the direction of the team. Not saying he wouldn't know that, but if the FO is going to continue to be aggressive before the TDL, they need to know if he is onboard or not.

This seems like about what the offer might be. I could also talks between the two teams picking up again if Petterson isn't signed before Free Agency

The Summer of Petey
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>alwaysnextyear</b></div><div>Anytime you give up the best player for a package you'll generally lose the trade. But if Petey forces VAN into that position in the offseason then they'll have to take the best offer.
This offer is a good starting point I think. Cozens established himself as a top 6 center last season (despite this year's struggles), plus Savoie and the 1st adds significant value. Samuelsson is pretty "meh" for his contract IMO.
I'd counter first by seeing if BUF would give up their 2024 1st instead of their 2025 (and they could add top 3 lotto protection on it). Then maybe ask for another lesser pick.</div></div>
I was just going on the assumption it would be after the 2024 draft.

Have to think they shop for a goalie
This is an ideal situation for NSH, IMO. It has the pieces that NSH is looking for as a potential return for Saros, being a potential top pair RD, a 1st & 2nd, plus a goalie to hold them over till Askarov is fully ready. If I was Trotz I'd take this deal.
It is probably a touch rich, but I feel like that is what it might take to get Saros from NSH.

Upgrade the current and future D core
Even though the Zadorov for Domi swap is very fair value, I wouldn't do it from the Leafs side of things. Domi is providing a lot for the Leafs. We need to add to our d group, without substracting from elsewhere from our team. If we trade Domi, we would now have a nice hole in the middle of our line up.
I wouldn't mind adding Zadorov though but I don't see why Van would trade him.

Playing with fire at the deadline
Other than being Swedish, how do we know it makes Petey happy to add Lindholm? :p :p :p
Would it potentially upset Petey being a winger on the lotto line?
It's unlikely they could extend him without moving off Kuz, Miki or Garland.

Would make more sense for calgary to retain on Lindholm and us to keep Kuzmenko for the playoff run and us to not retain on Myers (Calgary can If they'd want to deal him at the deadline)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>alwaysnextyear</b></div><div>The package you're offering should be more than enough, but for MIN to consider moving JEE they'd have to evaluate the entire direction of their franchise. Are they going to do a full rebuild? Even if they frame it as a quick 'retool' does it risk alienating a guy like Kaprizov? It's a big deal for them as they've got nobody even close to replacing what Ek does.</div></div>
Yeah that's a good point. For the sake of my deal I hope they'd be willing to commit to a larger rebuild as then I believe an offer like this would be VERY attractive. And I agree about JEE that's why I'm willing to pay the moon for him haha! I think that having JEE as our 2C behind Aho could be one of the last pieces needed to truly push the canes over the top for that Stanley Cup run.

Potential Jake destinations
Of all those trades, I think Vancouver makes most sense, though it depends greatly what they want to do with their defense core.
Also, how would you be comfortable with Guentzel signing something like 7x9M ?

I thought about that, but honestly given JEE's age and contract, I think I'd rather have him over Hertl.

Using WranglerWranglins trade idea
Take the retention out and it’s close. CGY can’t afford to both retain on Tanev and take Beauvillier back
I’d also like Jett Woo thrown in, since this leaves a gaping hole at RD with Tanev’s absense

love it. huge improvement to defensive depth without giving up any of the big prospects or a top 25 pick. only roster piece being lost is probably the most dispensable piece from the top 9

BIG DEAL WITH THE OILERS
There is a world where I think the Oilers would be better balanced by moving Draisaitl, especially with what he will demand on his next deal. I just think him and McDavid are so locked in with one another that if Drai goes, McDavid is gone soon after. I don't see a time where only one of them is left on the Oilers

They’re not going to call up a player from a European league, get real.
Also, if you think DeAngelo is bad defensively, Honka would be worse.
They need depth, which is why I don’t think they deal DeAngelo at all. 7 NHL D without an AHL affiliate isn’t a bad thing.
