knowing what you know now, would Nolan Patrick really go in the top 15, let alone the 1st round?

Severson has fallen off the cliff that Myers has been at the bottom of for a while. do you think their value is that far off?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tbrew</b></div><div>Yea? And Quinn Hughes is better than Cale Makar too!</div></div>
no, it's a hot take, I'm not an idiot. but current value based on this season puts Schenn ahead of Severson in terms of value to VAN, he's probably their most reliable shut down d-man. Schenn hits more, is paying better (+7) lining up against opposing top lines and can protect younger, smaller players. Severson has played himself out of NJD's line up by having next to no impact on the ice so how am I wrong?

Sevo for Schenn
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>canucks_Fan_53</b></div><div>currently Schenn > Severson. i really don't see VAN making this trade</div></div>
I said 'currently' as in 30 games this season. I know Severson has been better typically. but Schenn is more valuable to VAN right now than Severson would be.
also Schenn's re-sign price is much lower than Severson which is better for VAN being cap strapped.
for this to make sense it would have to be Myers for Severson that opens up cap and roster space for Severson to fit in the organization with the proposed extension.

i always think, like to start a trade for your best player a team will have to put in their best player and then balance from there. like Petey < Mcdavid so obvs VAN would have to add for that one, but none of this 'we'll give you 3 mid tier prospects, a late 1st rd pick and a bunch of other low picks' if you're trading for value try sending value back.

can we take a moment to realize that Bear is only available because he was beat out of a roster spot by Jalen Chatfeild.
so VAN pays a 5th, for a guy that was beat out of the roster spot by another guy that VAN let walk for nothing..... #assetmanagement

What teams would be interested in Horvat
there is 1 team that is very interested in Horvat! it's the team that he is currently on. they're not trading him.
you tell me a better 2 way, 200ft, shut down centerman that is a character guy and can also score goals.
like, any trade VAN makes that sends Horvat out of town is a big loss.

still room for Horvat, Pettersson extension due when Myers is off the books, so extra money there, and the cap going up that year too makes it easy to re-sign EP40

doesn't matter, he's a team player, character guy and the best player on the roster. even if he's "only" a point per game player it's a value contract. anything more is a bargain.
better than Huberdeau for 2.5 more and an extra year, or Kadri at 7 for 7, 3 years older.
Miller has improved every year with VAN since arriving and I see no reason why he should regress, the team hasn't gotten much better but it hasn't gotten worse. Kadri and Huberdeau are both on a worse team than last year.

VAN easily declines this
Sandin does not move the marker for d corps
VAN has 9 top 6 forwards, no need for Kerfoot, if home town is a pull we'll sign him as a FA
another TOR early playoff exit so...late first round pick.... not a huge benefit there.

would be nice IMO not likely though
more likely, Horvat signs O'Reiley deal. similar player, playing style and stats. if VAN is lucky it will be for the same hit (7.5) however could be the same cap percentage (10.5% which is 8.25 million)

Miller with 1.5 years left was rumored to return - Lundkvist, Chytil and a 1st.
Miller with an extension is more valuable. if NYR can work out the money and are still interested then i say the conversation starts with Schneider
