what can this team do
I don't know if holland in particular declines but as an oilers fan I would keep puju as an untouchable unless it's for a young bottom 4-top 4 d-man at a similar contract value/talent as him

If you want honest opinion you’ve come to the right website…
A lot of movement to basically trade Engvall + Holl for Timmins. Couldn’t you just do that directly?

Man, EDM is in tough here because the logical moves (Barrie/ Foegele/ Puljujarvi) all require less cap coming back to make it work, which in turn makes the value switch from assets to cap space and so little teams have cap space right now.
All 3 guys are worth more than they'd probably get from now till the start of the season but other teams have very little need to pay any kind of asset for them.
If I'm Holland I keep all 3 and hope other team get significant injuries to start the year and then get desperate and ask about these guys. Otherwise, you'll need to move those guys at a major loss.

Regardless of what you think his value is, compared to Kulak and Murray, Petterson's AAV is simply too much for the Oilers to take on. What's more, RW will be the area of greatest need in Edmonton, if Holland trades away Puljujarvi.

How much for Poolparty
You seem to be placing an awful lot of credibility with Sportsnet "scouts"?
Puljujarvi is a big, right-handed man with speed and skill. Edmonton doesn't have another NHL-ready player like him. The Oilers feel they are ready to compete for a Stanley Cup. Although they have cap issues, its unlikely the Oilers are going to trade one of their few natural right wings unless doing so improves their roster.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ceeque84</b></div><div>Oilers decline. Dillon serves no purpose as they dont have a spot for him on the left side. Ditto for Harkins, if Puljujarvi is going they will need a RW guy.</div></div>
Jets are light on right shooting forwards, so it seems like the Jets and Oilers aren't good trading partners.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>-I think the value's more or less there without the Rangers adding a pick - Broberg/Foegele for Chytil would be even, to me. But I don't think the Rangers make the move because they'd be trading away from a weak position for them - they really don't have a ton of C depth currently. They'd be throwing Barclay Goodrow in at 3C, I'd assume, and maybe running with a guy currently in the AHL as 4C? But I don't think it makes sense to pull from a weak position at this point for them.</div></div>
Not a chance Edmonton does this deal. Holland already refused to include Broberg in a potential Chychrun deal, no way he's sending him out for a 4th liner. That's laughable. Foegele scores more and the cap hits aren't that different, not sure Edmonton would do a Foegele-Chytil deal 1 for 1.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>-Why are you paying to dump Klefbom? Isn't he basically on LTIR permanently now? You're already using LTIR with Mike Smith, so it's not like you're clearing everything off the books and accruing deadline space by getting rid of Klefbom, so save the 2nd rounder and just let his deal run out after this year.</div></div>
Yeah, totally agree here. There's no logic applied at all to this. Nevermind that Klefbom's deal wasn't insured and Arizona is the poorest team in the league... there's no reason either team would consider this for a second.

Not for a player who’s production has fallen off and is injured 50% of the time, those type of players have little value in today’s cap world plus he makes about 1.5 mil more then he should and has term, hard guy to trade without paying the other team, Barrie on the other had is still a elite pp quarterback and still a serviceable dman

Realistically its going to be just slightly better than what the Flyers got for Giroux- Young top 6 roster player, late First rnd pick, mid rnd pick, and a B prospect.</div></div>
Could be more could be less, Giroux was only fine with going to Florida or Colorado, if Kane only has one team he's willing to go to, he might only return a 1st+A-Prospect/young player+B-prospect or mid pick (there will have to be some roster player ofc as well for cap reasons most likely). On the other hand if he's fine with going to like 5 teams, then maybe something similar to what you said or more.

I'd go:
Nurse/Bouch(they started out well together for a bit last yr)
Kulak/Barrie
Broberg/Ceci
Another issue being, the taxi squad isnt a thing anymore so you would be over the cap and have no extra players in case of injuries...
And as far as press box/extra players I predict Malone, Samorukov, & Shore will be the guys.</div></div>
I am well aware the taxi squad isn’t a thing anymore but I’m just using it to list some players who might play a few games this year

RHD upgrade options

That is quite literally the reason the Oil would potentially look to move Barrie. Bouchard and Barrie are the same type of player so obviously the team with cap problems would look to keep the younger, cheaper option and trade the more expensive option. Ideally to bring in a cheaper, no offense all defense type to provide a mix on the right side.

RHD upgrade options
I'd wait until next summer to address this, it's not a pressing issue IMO. Barrie has been quite good under Manson, I don't think there's any reason to move him.
If they decide to - next summer - I'd be looking at Mayfield and Gudas as 3rd pairing options. I don't think the Oilers will need another top-4, but if they did Weegar, Sanheim and Severson would top my list.
Girard is a weaker, more expensive Tyson Barrie, I don't see any sense in trading assets for Pionk or Pesce (who probably isn't available anyhow) and Dumba hasn't been overly impressive for about 5 years now.

Puljujarvi for Zadina
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SupremeBone</b></div><div>They need to clear cap and this kind of move involving Puljujarvi is likely the only type they can pull off without having to pay assets (Foegele and Barrie being the alternatives). Sure, each player has value in a normal and rational market but the current isn't that.
As they'd free up ~2mil, this would allow them the space to add someone like Kessel to further bolster the team. Lastly, while he's far from a proven asset, Zadina is among the best available, plausible options for a Puljujarvi trade. His particular skillset (adept shooter with some two-way acumen) is one that fits alongside EDM's C depth and could provide him the right conditions to breakout. I also specifically like that his default position is on his off-wing (a mirror to Hyman).
Your mileage may vary based on your perception of Zadina and your valuation of the assets it would take to clear cap space by other means.</div></div>
What would it take to move Foegele? A 3rd? A 2nd? So I guess you need to weigh over if Puljujarvi is worth more than Foegele + a pick... which for me is an easy choice. Before getting COVID last year Puljujarvi was the team's 4th leading scorer with a stat line of 28, 10-13-23 +7, on pace for 29 goals and 67 points. If he's fully recovered there's no question that he's worth far, far more than Foegele + pick, or Zadina + McIsaac. I mean, would Detroit trade Zadina + McIsaac for Foegele + 2nd? There's your answer right there.
