Not trying to be harsh but just how it is I think. Not enough scoring throughout lineup even if everything else goes perfect and there's zero other injuries.</div></div>
I think we should either sign Tatar or trade for another middle-6 scoring winger. I don’t think Karlsson will be a good idea. Him and Burns didn’t work out so what makes everybody think him and Letang will be any better. Somebody’s going to get the short end of the stick and miss out on ice time and PP1 time. It’s not going to go over well.

So we didn’t lose it since we signed O’Connor before the hearing?

Penguins Prospect Rankings 2023-2024
Laatsch should be 3rd LD
Blomqvist > Murashov > Gauthier
Devlin > Svejkovsky
Foster and Ilyin should be above Frasca and Plante
If we’re talking about closeness to NHL then Glover should be higher
Ansons > Gruden
I wouldn’t count Shea, Johnstone, or even Koppanen as prospects.

Not buying out Granlund
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jfkst1</b></div><div>You'll find out soon enough. I also suspect if nothing happens by the time the buyout window closes, then Karlsson isn't happening either. As Dubas has little flexibility after that point.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Marcsnack</b></div><div>Agreed. I am kinda sensing that the Karlsson saga has slowed down. Dont know if he moves before the season starts at this point, but regardless, not buying out Granlund will mean that a trade of some sort has to be in the works to clear cap.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pensfan21</b></div><div>I think this is a big week for Karlsson stuff. If it goes by with arbitration hearing and nothing changes then yeah, not great</div></div>
I bet Dubas has a trade on the table for Karlsson that involves Granlund. Grier is attempting to hold out but he will fold eventually when he realizes that he won’t get anything better. Karlsson mentioning he wants out doesn’t help SJS’s case either. Carolina is out of the mix after signing Deangelo so it should boil down to the Penguins and Kraken.

Question for Pens fans
I love the 4th line you put together here. All 3 of Nieto, Acciari, and Hinostroza provide some much needed speed for this team. that’s a fast line. could be a very effective 4th line.
Also for the 3rd line. I think we should try to follow the model of the HBK line. A good 2 way center in Eller along with one defensively responsible winger and one offensively minded winger. Maybe Nieto-Eller Rust and toss Johnsson on the 4th line
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BURGHgirl</b></div><div>The buyout is $833k this year and $1.8m for the following 3. Retaining would only last 2 years. I intended the retention for Petry since he has the trade protection. Chiarot had trade protection too.
Granlund can be sent anywhere</div></div>
If Granlund could be sent anywhere, he would’ve been gone by now. Dubas isn’t going to pay a premium to move a bad contract. He’s more likely to buyout Granlund since we get a 2nd window with the O’Connod arb case.

Boqvist
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>squashmaple</b></div><div>It’s amazing to see someone be wrong so many times in one comment.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>I'm well aware we have too many RD, when healthy. We also played 14 defensemen last season, 7 of whom were RD. Gudbranson could very easily be scratched while Severson, Peeke, and Boqvist hold down the right side while everyone is healthy. Blankenburg, Jiricek, Bjork, and Sweezy could all come up from the AHL, but only Blanks and Jiricek are really NHL-level right now. So we're two injuries away from a sub-replacement-level D-man playing consistently on the right side...there's no hurry to just move people, and certainly not to a division rival for a s*** return just because.
I called him a "minute-eating, right-shot, cost-controlled, young, physical D-man", then qualified that I'm not a fan. I never claimed he is good. But there's plenty of people fooled by his 197 blocks last season that would take a chance on a 25-year-old RD making $2.75M for the next 3 years, and that's exactly the kind of player old-head GMs love to go get. For context, he'd be tied with Rutta for 5th-highest-paid Pens D-man, it's not exactly a back-breaking contract.
Of the two, it's better to sell high on Peeke, whose minutes and blocks last season likely won't be matched for the rest of his career, instead of selling low on Boqvist, who looked like an excellent puck-mover when healthy, but can't stay healthy enough to prove it. Regardless, there's no rush to move either.</div></div>
You’re funny if you think Gudbranson is sitting with a 4M contract. Peeke is not good idk what other way I can spell it out for you. Like in the original comment nobody is going to overpay for a defenseman who can only block shots. who cares if he’s minute eating if he sucks while he’s out there. Saying i’m the one that’s wrong is laughable. I can admit that Boqvist is probably worth more than the deal I proposed but to say that teams are willing to overpay for Peeke is laughable. And we all know Gudbranson isn’t gonna sit with a 4M contact. That’s foolish. I know I lowballed the deal but man you guys are just so blatantly wrong it’s painful to talk to.

Boqvist
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaseyFlyman</b></div><div>Every other CBJ-involved ACGM on here has a trade for Peeke. No takers for a minute-eating, right-shot, cost-controlled, young, physical D-man? I'm not a Peeke fan (which I say ad nauseum), but he's exactly the kind of player GMs tend to <em>overpay</em> for.
Boqvist lands a late-1st rounder (or early 2nd-rounder) or just stays with Columbus. We don't have to move anyone, it just makes sense to if we want to.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dk325</b></div><div>Would need a 1st for Boqvist. Especially so from a division rival. The Jackets don't have to part with him so no need to let him go this cheap.</div></div>
A) you have too many RHD… Severson, Gudbranson, Boqvist, and Peeke on the right side. None of those guys are gonna be scratched either. Log jam at right D. You need to move somebody out. You’re not moving Severson and nobody wants Gudbranson or Peeke.
B) Peeke was not good in his own zone last year. As a defensive defenseman he needs to be. He’s overpaid too. if Peeke was as good as you’re claiming then he would’ve been moved by now.

Figure that those guys are more for extra depth incase if injury. This is more of a dream anyways but the guys each put up 34 points. not bad for being 37/38 years old.
