these are similar to my lines except I would give Schultz another shot. I get hes been bad, but hes had to play with Johnson. I think he would look a lot better with Rikola

Mind Blowing
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stanley_Cup_To_Manhattan</b></div><div>Carey Price hasn't been elite. The defense has been solid and he's been playing balanced for a change. Penguins look as deflated as a balloon. All those top guns are gun-shy all the sudden eh? Where's that playoff Guentzel? Zucker? Crosby? Malkin? Rust? how about that solid PK unit? all look super shot. It couldn't be more obvious and knowing you guys will have our number for another decade because of this Bettman-Pittsburgh relationship pisses me right off.</div></div>
Come on, give Price credit. He is playing a great series. Guentzel has 2 points in 3 games. Zucker has 2 goals. Crosby has 3 points and 2 goals. Rust has 3 points. Malkin has been invisible on the goal sheet. The pk unit is 10/10, so I dont know why you brought that up. Like I said, they have no depth. The top 6 could only do so much. The issue is their 3rd line being a no show all year. It has been an issue all year. Idk how you can say its all being rigged for pittsburgh when they have huge flaws all year

LEAFS DEFENSE CORE GETTING SOME RESPECT
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ClockReads2113</b></div><div>CBJ certainly isn't an offensive powerhouse. True test will be if you get to a better offensive team.</div></div>
Yup, riding the Leafland roller coaster has to be friggin' exhausting :tearsofjoy
Game one, it's "GET RID OF CECI!" "ANDERSEN IS OVERRATED! TRADE HIM TO CALGARY! HE'S NOT CLUTCH!"
Game two, it's "Dermott, Holl and Ceci really proving their true values to the non-believers."
CBJ is a trap based team, similar to the old NJ and Minnesota teams that just suffocated teams, and were constantly in 1-2 goal games. They're going to get about 20-25 shots a night, because they're only sending 1-2 forwards deep every shift. Not overly hard to defend, just have to make sure you're not the team that gives up the big play.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TCMonkey</b></div><div>OTT DECLINES.
Brown's ceiling is still top 6 pivot. (Which is way more valuable than a middle 6 winger.)
Brown just turned 22 as the NHL suspended the season due to Covid.
At 22 Andreas Johnsson had played exactly ZERO NHL games. He was in the AHL producing far fewer points per game than Brown currently is.
I have NO INTEREST in acquiring Johnsson.</div></div>
Andreas Johnsson has played numerous games in the NHL. He's basically Toronto's version of Ryan Dzingel (7th round pick who fought his way up). He's had himself a 20 goal season already and an injury plagued season so far. I think you might be thinking of Bracco? Still wouldn't trade Brown for him though.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bhavikp27</b></div><div>I said Bjork has top6 potential and no, there's no issue playing him in the top6; he just needs more production (points-wise) otherwise he's a complete player.
Engvall plays on the 4th line as I said. Bjork plays on the third line, played more (and more vs elite than Engvall). It's close so I'm not giving the complete edge to one or other (if I look at advanced stats like you said). Even if Engvall did have better stats this year, it will soon change ;)</div></div>
I said this contract is fair using Engvall as a comparable... You disagreed.
Now you're saying they are "close".
Don't really understand what you're disagreeing about... Both guys have fair deals.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SlickWilly</b></div><div>Vlasic would probably be 3rd pairing on PIT, and the fact that his contract is a lot longer than Johnson's makes it that much bulkier. It could definitely come back to bite them. That and the fact that they are paying that much to 1 player rather than it being spread out across 2 players makes it that much harder for a perennial contender like PIT to avoid hitting the ceiling</div></div>
Pittsburgh is the kind of atmosphere where Vlasic can reclaim his game. I think he would do well there tbh.

If they don't trade the Barzal pick they don't end up with Hagelin....... it's easy to look back and say 'what if' but they might not have the back to back cups without that move

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capitalfail67</b></div><div>problem with that logic is that the prospects that came in helped more than the players they traded for... id say Kessel might be the exception. either way 25 is older and to have a younger goalie come in once his new deal is up would be ideal. look at the penguins best forwards... they are all home grown talent. top 4 Rust Guentzel MAlkin Crosby all vote by advanced stat guys as "elite" all home grown.
2018 1st round pick( K'Andre Miller) or Brassard..... you could have argued that they were better off and K'Andre Miller is a high end prospect
2017 1st round pick (Klim Kostin )AND Oskar Sundqvist penguins got Reeves and 2nd round pick ( Zachary Lauzon )
2016 1st round pick (Sam Steel) for Kessel (Great trade imo) KEssel so far has been the only X factor that they traded for
1st round pick (Mathew Barzal) for David Perron
id say keeping your draft picks works out better than trading them...... look at the results</div></div>
The results were cups in 16 and 17... Pens don't have high end prospects but they also aren't looking for a 1C anytime soon. That 'Barzal' pick move resulted in Hagelin, who was a key piece of both runs. The Pens are reliant on their prospects for middle 6 depth, defensemen, and goalies and they've had no problem producing each of those consistently without the top end picks

We are a one line team right now, trading for kane doesnt change that, especially if you take away a top prospect (im thinking cozens more than mittelstadt) and a top 10 pick in a good draft. We have a rookie gm, a pending cap crunch, a expansion draft, and no scouts for christs sake, is this really the time to push all your chips in on a 32 year old winger?</div></div>
Kane drives his own line, he doesn't need to play with eichel. But could absolutely split them up and have two dominant lines and just put them together on the PP

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>villenash</b></div><div>Literally every player takes a discount? Nope...</div></div>
Players wont have the same power of negociation with a flat cap, there's not enough cap space in the league for all the expiring contracts to have a salary raise. A lot of players will be forced to take a discount if they want to play in good teams. But if it's the only problem with this team I can see a Matt Calvert trade for a late pick to clear a bit of cap space and give a bit more money to Burakovsky, Nishuskin and Virtanen.
