Habs do poor in the draft trade for PLD long term outlook 2026-27 roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jgimp69</b></div><div>If your stretching for Moore at 6 why not swap 1st with Winnipeg and Dubois?
Something like
Montreal 6OA (+ small add) for PLD//Jets 16-20)
You would still have Fla pick plus PLD and mid 1st</div></div>
The idea of the post is not that I want Moore, but rather than I think MTL will do a crazy pick as such at #6, and looking at the future with a pick like that

Lowry will go on a two month stretch where he can't score, but on a team with a woeful lack of leadership, and heart, he is important to keep. He's a candidate to wear the C next year.

Hutson is now a top prospect, can't package him with FLA 2023 1st for Dubois.
Most WPG fans agree PLD has rental value, which is probably a late 1st and a 2nd.
All MTL has to do is beat offers from other teams for PLD as a rental. FLA 2023 1st (14-18) and Beck should be enough.

Florida's pick will likely be somewhere in the 10-16 spot.
Honestly the Jets will get for Dubois (if he's traded) the same as Copp and Stastny except the prospect involved will be better then Barron and Foley.

Looking for new ideas

Would be a fun line to watch.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>masterjuddi</b></div><div>Jets deal is gross</div></div>
Yeah, probably (I mean, not for us, but for WPG). Was really just throwing a new name out there since 90% of ACGMs are sending one of three guys to NJ (Boeser, Meier, Garland).
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jgimp69</b></div><div>It would cost NJ a lot more than that for Connor. Selling Connor would obviously indicate fire and brimstone rebuild so think Nemec to start and add.
For Connor at his cap hit there would be an absolute bidding war.</div></div>
If I am making a real offer, I am guessing it would take 3 hard-to-give-up pieces…such as, one of our elite prospects (Nemec, Holtz), another A-rated prospect (Mukhamadullin, Casey, Foote) plus a piece off our roster and whatever pick they’d want.
Sharangovich + Nemec + Foote + 1st
Holtz + Mukhamadullin + Stillman + 1st
Mercer + Casey + Daws + 1st
Zetterlund + Marino + Gritsyuk + 1st

Messing with some teams
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jgimp69</b></div><div>From a fan standpoint and asset management, yes. PLD and FeFe for 2 playoffs is worth a lot more than for one, especially with retention, understanding that of PLD was moved, we can only retain for this year. Imagine the return on Helly with teams like Edmonton and Toronto absolutely NEEDING to win now! There would be a bidding war.
My POV is that realistically this is our final year of contention. Guys like FeFe, Helly and PLD will want out, so maximize their return for ready, or almost ready now players, shortening our rebuild and building around Perfetti, Lambert, Rashevsky, Heinola, Salomonsson and the rest.
No one would be off limits
And yes, Dillon should be moved as I think Samberg can bring the same game unless there was a better return with Pionk as he would probably be more coveted. I think Heinola could take up his spot on 2RD quite easily.</div></div>
Honestly I thought the Jets should rebuild this year last year already. I agree that trading players with some term would be a far better move. This team doesn't have what it takes to make any noise if it even makes the playoffs. Time to see the light and move on. As for Helly I could think of 8 maybe even 10 teams that would be hard in on him.

I agree. I would Move Nemec, but one of the firsts would be demoted to a 2nd or 3rd. Connor is excellent but he’s not getting two top 10 picks and 2 first round picks

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jgimp69</b></div><div>Highly doubt Winnipeg pays that for Kerfoot. It appears to be a tough market for teams needing to move cap with so few teams having the cap space available. It’s obvious that’s GMs aren’t doing any favours</div></div>
Absolutely true. In isolation (i.e., to a team with plenty of cap space and an open roster slot), Kerfoot is worth at least a third and probably more. But with this cap environment, the fact that the offseason is effectively over until things shake out at training camp, and Kerfoot's ten-team no-trade clause, he's going to be difficult to move productively.

TDL 2023 If Robertson becomes a top 6F
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jgimp69</b></div><div>Not a chance Jets agree to that. Either Dubas is holding out expecting an unrealistic return on Kerfoot or GMs are holding out hoping he panics, it’s obvious the market is set and the Leafs will get a minimal return, if any.
I’d like Kerfoot on the Jets. I think he could help out our middle 6, but I definitely don’t want Chevy to give up a guy we just drafted who has looked really good in preseason, playing big minutes in all situations thus far.
If Kerfoot was going to be traded for what most Leafs fans expect (b prospect, 2nd/3rd rounder etc) it would have happened by now.</div></div>
I don't think they are trading him at all. No need for hypothetical behind the scene drama.
If keafs trade him pre draft they get a 2nd easily. Now they would be lucky to get a 4th. Dubas knows that much. I don't think he ever planned in trading him.

A sad reality
Their goaltending wasn't their best part of last season, nothing was really, Comrie was good, Helle was **** though.
The Central could be wide open this year, every team took a step back this offseason except Nashville, if everyone goes well maybe the Jets could grab 2nd in the division, they could just as easily finish 5th or 6th though.

Next Years Habs
When will habs fans start to apply the same logic to their own cap dumps that is applied when they take on cap dump lol. Cap space is so scarce right now that it is going to take a 1st plus to dump multi-year cap dumps. You just got a first just to take on one single year of Monahan. Pretending your players are so much better is just homerism and nothing more.

I’m not expecting the world in a return. I just want the return to make sense lol. The jets need to figure out their direction going forward before making any trades. Which likely means they wait till the TDL to see where they are at. I’d they are out of playoff it’ll be sell for picks and prospects or younger players. If they’re making a stab at the playoffs they will keep Dubois and re-assess next year.

Delusional Habs fans need to understand WPG CAN !!!!!! trade Dubois elsewhere. Not because he won’t sign long terms mean team won’t pay for him ! Ben Chiarot brought us a 1st + 4th + former 3rd RD pick. Dubois for 2 post season is worth a 1st + solid prospect + whoever pays the more

Dubois was drafted by Columbus, he whined and got traded to Winnipeg.
Dubois is now playing in Winnipeg and he whines again. And he's only 24.
Will Dubois be traded to Montreal and starts whining because the pressure is too much for him?
I wouldn't bet the farm on Dubois. If the deal is good for both teams, fine. Otherwise we move on.
