It's a great trade for Colorado to get a potential 2C for $4M. It's a good trade for NSH to open up $4M in cap space. It's a bad trade for every contender who has to worry about Johansen bouncing back on a cheap deal with a contender.

I disagree. I think if an offer like this came through they'd have to take it. Two really good prospects, a 1st, and a 2nd should be plenty for NSH in my opinion. I get that a center makes more sense than another wing, but I think this offer would be too good to pass up on.

I feel like this just isn't true. I think most of us knew that he'd be difficult to dump, but I'll admit I thought he could get more than a UFA at 50% retained. The reason I have a hard time believing this is because he was hurt at the TDL, so I doubt there were very many people saying he was worth anything at $2M retained then. The year before that is a different story though.

NSH wouldn’t do this, and even if they did, they wouldn’t want the extension since Askarov probably only needs one more year in Milwaukee.

I would say in years past this would be true. The past couple of seasons haven’t been the same though. The team in front of him (especially last season with all the injuries) hasn’t been good. Lankinen just happened to be very good last year as well, but Saros just about carried a team full of young guys to the playoffs.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Black61</b></div><div>What a trash comment. Zach has been suspended NINE times for spitting, intentionally slashing a player in the face and assaulting fans</div></div>
I don’t think I need to repeat myself but I will. He has some attitude issues that need to be figured out in order for him to become a good player in the nhl. The original comment was directed at one saying that his point production was down this year due to his discipline, but I felt like it was necessary to also mention he missed more games due to injury than he did to suspension. I am not saying that he is a great person by any means; I don’t know the guy. All I can say is he has some attitude issues he needs to work on, and I think everybody knows that. I’m just shocked at the amount of MTL fans who are coming at him like that after Montreal drafted one of the most controversial prospects in hockey.

Historical Draft Day
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OkMan</b></div><div>I would argue that the Preds should be targeting a future #1 RD. His defensive game is great, and I loved what he was able to do this season. However, that doesn’t stop me from thinking Carrier or Barrie are guys that could totally fill the 1RD role. I’d also prefer that Livingstone get a good amount of time in the lineup, and he wouldn’t be able to get that time with Fabbro still here. It doesn’t help that I think ASP would be a great option for the Preds in this draft, and he wouldn’t be there at 15. His offense is great, but he really is pretty solid all around - seems like the guy I’d want to target, and wouldn’t mind doing it at the price of Fabbro</div></div>
That's fair. I think it definitely depends on who is there at 11 and if Nashville feels strongly about one of those remaining players. It's so hard to gauge the price for moving up because every draft is different.

He got suspended ten games for it. He missed 22 games to start the season. You pointed out that his point production fell due to discipline, when injuries was a bigger reason for the point decline. Again, there are some attitude issues that need to be figured out, but I think he could become a very important piece in Nashville if he figures it out.

I’m not trading 7 for 24 a solid prospect and glass who doesn’t fit their timeline and don’t have a place for. I keep 7 and draft a player better than all of them and then draft at 22 and take a player probably just as good as them.</div></div>
Wait, people were ready to write Evangelista off as a bust after leading the OHL in goals and being 4th in points?

I’m not going to argue there are some attitude issues that need to be fixed with him, but I think his decline in points was more due to missing 22 games at the beginning of the year because of an injury. If he reaches his ceiling and can control his emotions, he is going to be a problem for other teams to play against.

Disagree. Fabbro was playing arguably the best hockey of his career at the end of last season. Moving up four spots (from 15 to 11) in a draft this deep isn’t worth next seasons potential #1 RD in my opinion.

Is Johansen at 8 million really that much worse than Tyler Myers at 17 points and a -16 in 78 games at 6 million? Why is NSH retaining if Vancouver isn't? This trade results in Nashville losing 2 million in cap space and taking on a less valuable player.

Saying Nashville barely has a 20 goal scorer on their team is misleading. You're only looking at one season in which 5 of their top 6 forwards were either traded or injured. I'm not saying that they couldn't use more scoring, but if we go back one year, both Forsberg and Duchene were 40-goal scorers. Again, they need to add scoring, but not at the expense of a top 5 goalie in hockey.

Nashville’s highest paid forward is a winger. Duchene is tied for the second highest paid forward on the team, and he’s also spent a good amount of time on the wing.
As for Saros, I agree with you. It’s not like Nashville is shopping him around. That’s why it would take a crazy offer for Nashville to move him. I believe it was reported today Nashville was asking for two firsts and two blue chip prospects, meaning Saros isn’t getting moved.

It's a moot point, anyway. Nashville is not in the habit of spending huge money on wingers.</div></div>
I don’t think Nashville would be willing to include Saros in a Debrincat trade, but I think Ottawa would be willing to include Debrincat in a Saros trade.
Debrincat is also rumored to want out, so there isn’t a ton of leverage for Ottawa. For Ottawa’s sake, hopefully they can pull off a deal like Calgary did with Tkachuk. Ottawa is trading him after a down year, so it may be tough to maximize the return. That being said, I think NSH would have to accept the original offer here.

NSH will only trade him if they get an offer they can't refuse. There's not much value here other than a late first round pick. It's a pretty easy no from NSH.
