Detailed Ideal Offseason if 19 is Done
This would be pretty ideal. Would rather give up the assets for gibson/talbot/reimer than give campbell that money, but even that deal is fine.

If Campbell asks for 5 Million
Would you not just pay 5 for the better goaltender if Campbell asks for 5?? Now you've got nearly $6M locked in and a worse top 6..

I agree with you. Why I had that as about my max id be fine giving up currently

Reunite Trotz and Wilson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Terry_AkiSauce</b></div><div>Are the Caps really just going to run it back?</div></div>
They're going to trade Eller and trade or LTIR Hagelin, probably call up Snively and Alexeyev, after which they'll have 15.1M in cap space to add a top 6 winger, a #1 goalie, and sign one of Vanecek or Samsonov as the backup. If Backstrom goes on LTIR they add 2C to the shopping list, but their cap space goes up to 24.3M. The Caps will be big players in free agency, they don't need to trade core players (and especially not irreplaceable ones like Wilson) just to shake things up.

Detailed Offseason Plan
This is a well thought out, realistic plan. I think my one disagreement is that nichuskin is a significantly better player than mikheyev, and is worth the extra ~2.5 million, but both are the exact kind of player the caps need

Detailed Offseason Plan
I'd love to get Korn back, but he's been talking about retiring since before he joined the Caps. With the Isles I don't think he was even the day-to-day goalie coach, he was the director of goaltending or something and didn't travel with the team. I think he either follows Trotz to wherever he ends up or he calls it quits. Even if they can't get him though, it's time to fire Scott Murray. Anyone's gotta be better than him at this point. I really want to see how Sammy does with another goalie coach before they move on from him.
Anyway, I like everything else. My preference for the new top 9 wing is Trocheck, since he'd be insurance against another Backstrom injury or McMichael struggling (and he can actually win faceoffs), but I wouldn't say no to Mikheyev.

Deadline
I like the Jarny trade for sure. He is a more complete forward and should be real nice on the 3rd line and could fill in at center if injuries happen. Plus, he's the kind of player that Lavs would not scratch time and again. I would like that VarlyMayfield trade too but I would think they'd want more for that. I really don't know what Bmac will do with the goalies and am really interested to see what he does if anything.

Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>krakowitz</b></div><div>It seems so low for him, especially given his production, but it honestly seems like this is a best case scenario for what they can get for Kessel.</div></div>
the idea that no one was biting on a 3rd for Kessel with full retention was crazy to me! he's got 35 points in 57 games this year, he plays hard every day (the damn iron man streak!!) and he has a ton of playoff experience. His shooting is 5.1% this year, less than half his career mark (10.9%) so a smart team is going to give up a package like that for him and with some positive regression, they'll get a steal.

Seig and Stephenson are easily the worst trades the GM made. I was way less mad about Bura and Vrana. You could tell seigs had so much potential it’s just frustrating

seems like they might make a some moves like this. GMBM said that wont be aggressive at the deadline.. i think they should just punt or trade some assets to desperate teams at the deadline

Not against that either. Maybe the best way forward is not trading for Hertl and if he's available in the summer go get him so we don't have to spend assets.

Something to Reignite the Group
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>krakowitz</b></div><div>I think those are both offseason moves. As annoying as Hagelin's offensive woes are, the 62-26-21 line is still dependable and we rarely get scored on with those guys out there. Not breaking that up until we can get AJF in that spot during camp to develop chemistry with those two. I'd like to see McMichael at 3C instead of Eller but realistically Laviolette will never do that.</div></div>
Agreed. I have to say watching eller play is killing me slowly.
Also a major problem is shot placement for this team.
