It wasn’t really just a dump, I know they have Klingberg and Dumba both expiring, so I just picked them for that reason alone, but could be somewhere else if only for cap dump purposes

As I mentioned above, Toronto has other assets that can be included if need be. Stop taking these so seriously and let some people have some fun, it’s not that serious bro.

That’s fair, but Toronto does have other prospects that could be more enticing if need be.

Ehlers hasn’t played a full 82 game season since 17-18. Also, hasn’t had a season with 60 points or better since that same year. He’s not close to a point per game player so why on earth would he be worth a Nylander or Marner?

If they go into rebuild mode, a first and a couple young prospects are an incentive. Robertson could be really good in a few years if he can get his injuries in check.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>If they move a goalie, it is likely Raanta, but I doubt they move a goalie. I don’t know if you ever check out rotowire, but they had him slated as expected, but now have punched him in as the confirmed starter for tonight! Regardless if they do or don’t make any goalie trade, I just hope these guys can keep buzzing like they have been! The canes aren’t even my team but they’re a lot of fun to watch!! Happy New Year! 🥳

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Kochetkov's also hurt right now. Freddie is likely going to require a conditioning stint. Raanta has been the least banged up of the three, that's why he's playing. They're unlikely to move any of the three. Kochetkov hasn't played since before Christmas, and Freddie hasn't been seen since the beginning of November, so it's just been riding Raanta. They're one injury away from Sawchenko starting right now.</div></div>
Kochetkov is actually slated to get the start tonight, and Freddie will be back before the month is out I’m sure… I didn’t mean that them trading Raanta had to happen today by no means, I just figure if they do move a goalie down the road it would be him

I just feel like a goalie move is coming with Freddie almost being ready to come back but I can’t see them sending Kochetkov down seeing as how well he’s played. So imo that leaves Raanta as the odd man out, and I’ve noticed they’ve been giving him more starts this last week, just assumed maybe to try to boost value?

I know it’s an overpay, but seeing as it would have to be a 50% retain, that gives the hawks some leverage and there will be a lot of good offers out there for Kaner

Muzzled Muzzin
Lol I can’t understand this at all. Trading away all 1st, 2nd, 3rd, AND 4th round picks for the next 3 years, but it doesn’t improve our top 6, and gives us half a year of an aging defensemen to add to the top 4 and half a year of Bo Horvat, James Reimer and Nick Bonino. I don’t get why it would make any sense whatsoever, personally.

Big moves with Muzz on LTIR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ChiHawk</b></div><div>1) Those aren't A prospects despite being the Leafs best prospects. Button, Pronman and Wheeler all didn't have either of those guys in the top 50 NHL prospect list released just prior to the season which IMO are what A prospects are.
2) Quantity won't equate to quality.
3) Cap is prorated against games played, so in this scenario, the Leafs will be fine as long as an acquisition is made December or later
4) Yes, all in good fun and long shot as you said :)</div></div>
That’s totally fair. I appreciate your input. Honestly, I’m not super up to date on prospect pools aside from Torontos, but I know that both Knies and Robertson have potential to be elite players during their careers and that’s more what I was eluding to as an “A” prospect, while I don’t think there’s as much upside to Abramov and Kokkonen, I do think both have potential to be NHL caliber players, along with possibly another NHL caliber player with the 3rd round pick, so in my mind it evened out not adding Robertson/Knies to the trade. Just wanted to explain where I was coming from there lol but as I said you made excellent points, and I appreciate the input! :)

You may be right, instead of a 2023 1st and an A prospect, I figured a 2023 1st, 2023 3rd and two B prospects may be enough to make it worth it, as you can see Toronto still has over $1M in cap in this scenario, so may be able to lessen the amount retained, but it’s all hypothetical in the end lol

Toronto definitely would be better off after this trade. As a Leafs fan, there’s nothing more that I’d love to see than DeBrincat in blue and white, but unfortunately, I just don’t see a realistic trade that doesn’t include Nylander+.
Chicago would turn this one down and not sure Muzzin would waive lol but not a horrible offer

Sandin is not a future. He is an NHL player, and he’s not a star or potential star.</div></div>
The point is, Boston isn’t in a “rebuild now” type of mode therefore as long as the pieces they’re trading are bringing in younger players to fit in with their other younger players, then it’s a win win scenario. I don’t know why you’re so obsessed with talking about “futures” but nobody wants to hear it so take your complaining elsewhere.

This isn’t hard.</div></div>
I understand that you’re referring to a “future” as someone on their ELC only, but if you’re saying a 22 year old player is not considered a “future” you’re off your rocker. Just because a player isn’t on their ELC still does not mean that they can’t be considered a “future”.
Also, Boston isn’t in need of a complete rebuild considering Pastrnak is Boston’s future star to build around and is 25. You’re not telling me that a 22 year old possible future star defenceman is someone that Boston would pass on just because he’s not on his entry level contract. Give it a rest bud, you’re making yourself look bad.
