Detroit has no interest in that

Doubt you get any value for Gourde.

Bowey over Hronek tells me all I need to know. That’s going to be a hard no from Detroit.

Detroit is going to trade one of the guys they think is a cornerstone of their future defense for . . . THAT?

    I don't think so.

Tampa is in cal hell. Why do you dump two cap hits and and include a 1st and expect to get anything back. Johnson has 3 years left even at 3 million and Mcdounagh has 6 at well over 6 million and he is 31. Then they give up a promising RHD defenseman and a high 2nd. Adding a prospect is not getting you this?

Why would Wings make this deal?

Columbus doesn’t make that trade... we have no use for another 3rd line center.

This is the biggest pass in the history of the site for the wings. You forgot to add in point, sergechev, vas and cirelli

Unfortunately nobody is going to come along and "magically save" TB from their Cap problems.
In order to get out of it, TB will need to pay teams to take their cap dumps. Plain and simple.
Gourde along with (2) 3rd round picks for a 7th round pick and a MEH prospect (maybe), in return.
You have not 1, but 2 cap dumps going to Detroit (Yes, I know McDonough can still play, and so can Johnson).
No one is taking $12M in salary tied up for 4-6 years unless it is REALLY worth their while to do so.

At this point I wouldn't trade Sergachev for Hronek straight up. All that would do is move the hole from the left side of Detroit's defense to the right side of their defense.

Hahaha Hronek is nowhere close to sergy. I guess trade a 7tg for him is better tho?

Detroit is bad, I agree but how does this make them better? Eats alot of cap for older players that will not be part of the rebuild and giving up a cost controlled promising defeneman and a pick are not a recipe for a rebuilding team. Tampa has a cap problem, this solves their problem and only hurts the Wings. Sorry I believe you are wrong.

This doesn't really make them better even in the short term. Adding McDonaugh on the left is good, but then Detroit's only accomplished RD is Stetcher. You fill 1LD by creating a hole at 1RD. And Johnson at $3M isn't terrible, but doesn't fit the rebuild timeline timeline at all.
This trade would screw the Wings in the short term by taking their best young defenseman and screw the future by tying up too much cap for several seasons to come. Also, McDonaugh is signed for about 3 seasons too long for that cap hit. Detroit wouldn't even consider this.
