Libor Hajek was bad in the AHL and awful in the NHL

Putting him in the lineup if making your team so much worse
Kakko was also awful, so were Howden and Trouba. The Rangers need their guys to play to the best of their abilities and not be complete trash if they want to be anywhere near contention

All that and you’re not cap compliant. I’d take on Smith for a second since we already have a full roster, available cap space is at an all time low, and he doesn’t get along with Jimmy D.

It's going to take more than that to unload Smith. Also, I don't see him ever coming back to Detroit. He had issues with the brass here.

EDIT - Didn't read this replies first, kinda already covered the issues with management.

Any team that wants to contend and compete at the top level will need all their players to perform at a high level. This is an obvious statement that should go without saying, can’t believe someone would actually say it smh. I can’t possibly imagine you’re implying that kakko is trash and will never be better, along with the others. As you’re allegedly a VAN and WSH fan, I’d would safely assume you haven’t seen kakko play in many games but please enlighten us and critique his play, along with Trouba and Howden. Personally I don’t think many rangers fans will say they were very disappointed with Howdens play as we don’t anticipate him being more than a 4th line guy. Kakko, yup, didn’t put up the points everyone expected but I’d like to hear your expertise on his play. While you’re at it you can tell us how howden and Trouba can improve also

I never said Kakko will nener improve. He was only a rookie, he was good on the PP. But he was just awful 5v5. His defense was near league worst and so was his offense. Overall a very very bad rookie season. Infact it was one of the worst seasons by an 18 year old in the shot tracking era.

Howden is not an NHL level player he is an AHL bottom 6 centre

Trouba can bounce back, but will never be worth that contract he just got paid.
