they can retain half his salary, trade him at the deadline and get potentially a 3rd or 2nd for him depending on how well he does

He’s had his up and down but he should do well as maybe Stepan’s replacement and could fetch a decent amount at the deadline

I don't know, watching him play for the penguins I was not impressed. People described him as soft.
I think he's getting toward the end of the road.

Odds are he’ll be nowhere near a 40 point pace with this team. They’ll be lucky to flip him for a 3rd rounder at the TDL. If he had much value he would’ve just been signed w/o giving up any assets. Nonetheless, not a bad pickup after dumping Stepan’s salary. Solid B.

At this point he will have played for nearly every NHL team. Next year he's league Minimum because AZ won't help his value at all.
