More realistic
Trades
1.
STL
  1. Vesalainen, Kristian
  2. 2021 1st round pick (WPG)
WPG
I've seen multiple Jets fans suggest this trade.
    2.
    STL
    1. Berglund, Victor
    2. 2021 1st round pick (BOS)
    BOS
First rounders in 2021 (especially later first rounders) aren't worth as much since this year every pick is pretty much a guess
      3.
      STL
      1. Brook, Josh
      2. 2021 1st round pick (MTL)
      MTL
Montreal fan suggested this to me. Not a bad deal.
        4.
        STL
        1. Wilde, Bode
        2. 2022 2nd round pick (COL)
        NYI
Think Wilde would be an amazing addition. Don't think the Blues will get a first and likely may get a 2nd or 3rd.

I'd love that Islanders trade. Blues would probably want a 1st back though and the Avs pick will probably be in the 50-60 range next season

hes quickly become one of the most overrated players in the league. Not saying you're overrating him specifically but i cant at all see what hes done to warrant a first and a good prospect

I would happily do this as an Isles fan as well. If the Blues want, I'd make this an even bigger trade.

          To NYI:
          Vince Dunn
          Samuel Blais

          To STL:

Teams trade late 1sts and good prospects for literally months of renting a player at the trade deadline. I think it would be smart business to get a guy that you can play immediately and control his next contract instead. I think draft picks get overrated. And besides, all of these prospects here are projects, there is no guarantee you'd see any of them in the NHL for 200+ games.

Only issue i have with this trade is the fact the Blues can't take Hickey's contract. They dont want any salary back. Leave out Hickey, make the pick a 3rd and I think that's fair for both teams.

And people need to keep in mind that draft picks in 2021 are nearly 100% a crapshoot because draft eligible players aren't playing in juniors.

First rounders (unless top 10 this year) are not worth as much as they the majority of draft eligible players aren't playing hockey this year. There's no way of knowing if the players are developing well or not.

Good point, this draft has the potential to be very wacky.

He's a good two-way top4 defenseman. He is great offensively, defensively and is reliable on the PP. He's also only 24 and has a $1.875M cap hit. Only issue is that he's been sheltered and his quality of competition is pretty low.

Blues can get a 1st, at least a #15-20th pick.

We'd have to take out Blais too. So Bellows, Wilde, NYI 3rd 2022 for Dunn? I'd consider that.

Why would Blues need to take out Blais? Blais and Bellows are similar players but Bellows has more upside.

Oh, my apologies. I thought the money wouldn't work but it actually does. Yeah, Dunn and Blais for Bellows, Wilde, and NYI 3rd 2022 I would definitely do.

EDIT: It actually doesn't really work without the Blues taking one of Hickey or Komarov, but if they can find a way to dump one of them somewhere else then I'd do this.

he might get a first this year with how screwed up the draft is going to be but otherwise hes not worth that pick imo in different years. Ive seen legitimately every single game hes played since he came into the league and it would remind me a bunch of the brady skjei trade. Unless theres someone else to pick up his defensive defeciencies on his pairing, hes a third pairing defenseman

Yeah I don't disagree. He's better than what many have said on here, but he's not worth a top 10 pick. And late first a good prospect would be sufficient

STL fans are going to be very disappointed in the return they get for Dunn if you think a prospect + a 1st is fair value

yeah like im not saying hes terrible, id definitely give up assets for him but id be spooked off if someone wanted my first round pick that could be a high as 15 for him (maybe not this year because the draft admittedly will be a total crapshoot but otherwise hes probably not worth that)

A first round pick in this year's draft is one giant crapshoot outside of the top 5 or 10. Not enough players are playing so a first from a contending team is not a lot. Dunn is at least worth a good prospect plus pick.

I would happily do this as an Isles fan as well. If the Blues want, I'd make this an even bigger trade.

          To NYI:
          Vince Dunn
          Samuel Blais

          To STL:
          Kieffer Bellows
          Bode Wilde
          Thomas Hickey
          NYI 2nd 2022

I'd do it, but I don't think Hickey and Bellows would get us Blais. Pick would definitely have to be a 1st then

Got narrowed down to Dunn and Blais for Bellows, Wilde, and a 2022 3rd. I'm all for that.

If Dunn was an RD maybe the Jets look at it, but as an LD looking for a raise, I doubt Winnipeg gives up that much.

          Oof.

I dont say that because I dont like Klefbom, I like Klefbom a lot. But the issue is the logjam on the left side of the defense for the Blues already. Even though he would go directly to LTIR, next year will be tough cap wise for the Blues. They have multiple guys ready for the LHD spot. It's just not a good fit unless Scandella goes to Edmonton

If STL could get a first and b-prospect for Dunn, they ought to grab it.

My guess is two 2nds (like Toews deal) is probably fair market.

          Not a bad assessment.
