SECOND STAR - MARTIN JONES, G, SAN JOSE SHARKS

“Jones won a League-best four games, posting a 1.71 goals-against average, .942 save percentage and one shutout in four starts to lift the Sharks (17-16-4, 38 points) to a perfect week and within three points of the final playoff spot in the Honda NHL West Division. He made 48 saves over a pair of games against the Minnesota Wild, denying 22 shots - as well as six in the shootout - in a 4-3 win March 29 and turning aside 26 pucks in a 4-2 triumph March 31. Jones then picked up two wins against his former team, the Los Angeles Kings, earning his 25th career shutout with 30 saves in a 3-0 victory April 2 and making 35 stops in a 3-2 triumph April 3. The 31-year-old North Vancouver, B.C., native has appeared in 24 total contests this season, compiling a 14-7-2 record with a 3.03 goals-against average, .905 save percentage and one shutout.“ - NHL

If there was betting odds for predicting Jones to be a star of the week or month for the entire NHL; payout musta been something like $10,000 for putting down $100 lol

The way the Sabres rebuilt Curtis Lazar’s career shows why they’re the best organization in the NHL

i mean he went from being completely useless on minnesota and ottawa to a decent depth winger in toronto. the leafs have a lot of tools to get guys like him regain their bearings.

it's very funny watching sabres fans piss their pants though at that compliment. they have a laundry list of first-rounders they've wrecked.

It’s impressive they’ve rebuilt him or whatever what you wanna call it but it certainly does not make them the best org in the nhl

A hot mic at the end of the habs vs. Oilers game tonight just caught the one ref asking the other about his “crazy weekend”. tears of joy

Oh yeah, and also Staal gets the GWG in OT in his Canadiens debut.

Eric Staal scores the OT goal in his debut with Montreal! Gallagher's hurt though so we likely see Caufield in the near future?

I'm guessing (I legitimately don't know) it was the ref who was staring at the blatant Lucic slew-foot/trip on Brodie that occurred moments before the Flames scored.

One of the refs in the Leafs/Flames game. Two no-calls led to two goals against for Toronto. One was literally a second after a faceoff right in front of him.

That's the thing, though, right? Things like this aren't "missed calls"; he's staring right at the f*ckin thing... I'm fine with human error. This isn't that. It's just straight up horsesh*t.

It's game management and it's a huge problem in the league, imo. I'm so glad the Tim Peel thing happened and I hope people don't just let that incident fade away.

After that incident and the bad reffing this year in general I don’t think it’s going away, but that doesn’t mean the NHL will change anything

I don't think they're inclined to either. I just hope people stay on their ass until they do.

Wow. Just wow. I get that hockey is a fast game and it happens fast, but that’s a textbook slew foot, you’re looking right at it, and it led to a goal. Horrible. I sure hope the nhl doesn’t shove it under the rug
