1. Hyman will be a leaf next season
2. Fiala is not getting traded, let alone for that package.
3. Washington declines without a second thought

Seems fair to say at least one team offers Hyman an unreasonable amount and the Leafs are either unable to fit it into their cap or unwilling to go that high

Does Wash lose one of their goalies to Seattle you think?

I don't know why people can't wrap their heads around this: Had an expansion draft not been on the horizon, Hyman would already be resigned. He wants to be a Leaf and has even stated to be open to the idea of taking a pay cut to remain one. Resigning him now would mean you have to protect him in the expansion draft, but the fact that he will remain unsigned means that someone else could be protected. Seattle knows Hyman wants to be a leaf, and if they take him he just comes back in free agency. Hyman will resign with the Leafs and wont even tough the open market.

Seattle can talk contract with Hyman before expansion draft.
If they select him, it means Hyman probably said he would sign there.

The only way the Devils would have a chance at Fiala is if we're getting Hughes or Hischier (and that's not happening)

So the Wild likely pass. And while not a critique, per se, scallops over succotash is phenomenal.

Does Johnsson outplay Sheary for that crucial spot at 3L, or does McMichael get it?

I'd see the Caps' LW dept chart after picking up a post-injury Johnsson who was on an 8 goal pace this year as: Ovechkin, Mantha, Hagelin, Sheary, Johnsson. So in this deal they not only lose Vanecek for nothing, but they also lose someone else for nothing, to expansion. Johnsson is not nothing. he can get back to being a 20 goal scoring winger. But Johnsson to the Caps when they have all four LW spots set is nothing.

Nope. He wants to be a Leaf. They select him and offer him a contract, he declines and comes back to Toronto. Or the leafs just protect him, which they wont have to do because they aren't re-signing him until after the expansion draft

I mean procedurally...Seattle has an exclusive window to speak with pending UFAs.
And if they end up selecting one in the expansion draft, its likely that they came to terms for a contract.
(In other words, it would be a bad sign for Leafs if Seattle picks him).

But in the end, I agree with you, he likely ends up staying in Toronto.

Hughes?? Definitely disagree i think the rank for me goes Power, Clarke, Edvinsson, Hughes in that order.

Power isn’t even that good he’s just tall, hughes is better than Clarke and debatably edvinsson
