Lol. Perry hasn’t been a problem at all in recent years. He hasn’t made any dirty plays at all this year, and was 12th on the habs in minor penalties this year (he had 3 fights, but those are obviously not a factor in the game). At this point in his career, Perry is slow, but he’s all skill. He has some of the best set of hands in the league and is great net-front on the PP. He’s a great teammate and leader. Any NHL team would be better with him on it.

Watching the playoffs, Perry was in almost every scrum, every post-whistle pushing/shoving group, and kept chirping from the bench. He does have great hands, and for all I know he could be the best teammate ever, but he's the type of player I would love the Lightning to beat, not sign.

Holtby on waivers? WTF Benning? How do you still have a job?

Quoting: SevenLeg
He's on unconditional waivers to get bought out

In less than 24 hours the CANUCKS will have the best goalie tandem on the planet!!

In the recapture penalty box that is!!!

The 'franchise gift' that just keeps on giving - oh and happy belated 50th-Anniversary

I can't completely agree with that seeing how Klingberg progressed through his NHL career. At best I could maybe agree with the idea of the Stars being afraid of having two of the same player on the back end (which is just a casualty of old-school, 200 Hockey Men thinking).

Something I find curious is that all of Honka's scouting reports from 2014 are vague. They claim he's some skilled offensive defenceman but a lot of the verbiage around him is fluff without concrete examples.

We look back at the 2016 draft with how both Puljujarvi, Juolevi, and even to an extent Laine; the 2017 draft with Vaakanainen and Vesalainen; or the 2018 draft with Kotkaniemi, and wonder if Finns just have a harder time adjusting to the NHL. These players have excelled in the AHL but haven't seen their draft-day acclaim at the NHL level yet. It's a fascinating case study on prospect development. I wonder if Honka was the 'tip' of that iceberg and the lens we tend to focus on these struggling Finnish kids isn't wide enough.

1. All of our staff is like 200 years old, we're stuck with old school f*cks. That's the only reason why Comeau's playing.

2. Some Finns struggle, but some excel like Heiskanen, Barkov and Aho. Less wide ice is probably the main factor in this, those with higher hockey IQ than others usually adapt better.

I know I'll sound super biased, but Matthews and Marner are WAY too low. Mostly Matthews, there is no way you can consider him not a top 5 forward.

I'm biased too because I hate Matthews, but there's no way he's better than McDavid, MacKinnon, Crosby, Kucherov, Draisaitl or Barkov. I could hear an argument for (at this point in Kane's career) him being better than Pat Kane.

So hockey players can’t talk to each other? If you’re worried about players with mouths, I have no idea how you can stand Nikita Kucherov. Perry is much more well-spoken than him. And every single player who has ever played hockey has gotten in an argument with the other team.

Sources indicate the Vegas Golden Knights are in on Jack Eichel, with a few caveats of course. My very trusted source tells me all of Vegas’ top 9 forwards, top 6 dmen, all draft picks in the first three round and all bags of pucks are untouchable

Incoming Jones has a .920 save percentage in the regular season for the Leafs, and an .870 save percentage in the 1st round of the playoffs, Leafs lose in 7.

With Jones it's most likely going to be the opposite. He's god mode in the playoffs yet isn't good in the regular season.

Yeah, but it’s Toronto, so winning in the playoffs is not an option.

That whole MacDermid thing is weird. Maybe I'm overthinking it but:

He was one of the worst players in the league this season, certainly bottom 5. Francis, a so-called analytics-inspired general manager selected him ahead of Clague, Lizotte, Wagner. Another so-called analytics-inspired general manager in Joe Sakic gave up a pick for him? He's not even ahead of their 7th defenseman Jacob MacDonald in their depth chart but he plays a ✨physical game✨. I don't know it just feels weird to me.

Some, like Perry, have gotten in a lot more arguments than others, and just come off as cheap. As for Kucherov, I 100% hated him through the first couple of seasons (the dirty hit in the Columbus sweep series was the peak), but he's cleaned up his act since, thankfully. It's quite possible Perry's cleaned up too on the Habs, I admittedly hadn't seen as much of him recently until the playoffs, which isn't a great sample size, but I keep remembering him for things like elbowing Ryan Ellis out cold (Winter Classic, 2020).

So opinion on 4 signings
Yandle, as long as he’s played correctly good deal
Garland, great deal
Ovi, too long, but i guess it’s the price to pay to keep him
Buch, maybe a bit expensive but good deal

Could you do me a favor? Could you photo shop Comeau's face on the guy on the ground and my profile picture on the guy who's standing on this picture and send it to me? It would be truly epic, and I'd really appreciate it.

My only hesitation on Garland is now that you have him and 6 years of 8 million to OEL, how the heck do they lock up Pettersson and Hughes, let alone Horvat? They'll be in freefall mode (cap-wise) after this year.

And this isn't even counting brother reunions (Makar, Dach, Hughes, etc.)

Well that’s Benning’s problem and Garland is a good player, it’s the Myers, OEL and co that are the problem
