Rangers are a very soft team. They need some grit and fortitude in their lineup a lot more than they need more offensive firepower. Goodrow could be an excellent fit for them, but a long term contract will almost certainly go bad halfway through. Rangers will be stuck with another buyout. Has any team been forced to buy out more contracts over the last 5 years than the NYR?

I mean they traded Lemieux then a week later said they need grit on this team. So how long before they go yeah that Goodrow contract sucks anyone want him

How does Seattle's UFA window work, they're in on Driedger? Do they still get a pick from Florida?

They have 48h to negotiate with unprotected UFAs and, if they agree to the contract, it counts as the selection.

Yep, and reports are Francis is talking with 3 UFA's right now Hyman, Dreidger, and Oleksiak with a contract already waiting for Dreidger (Jarry deal basically). This is gonna be interesting expansion draft.

Here is an EXPANSION TEAM created by CapFriendly twitter:

Gourde-Compher-Tarasenko (Swap Gourde to C)
Jarnkrok-McCann-Namestnikov (Put Donato on 1LW maybe, with Byron down and Compher 3LW)
Byron-Lizotte-Appleton
Donato-Tierney-Pitlick

Giordano-Zadorov
Dillon-Fleury
Bean-Lauzon

Driedger
Kahkonen

Scratches:
Stenlund
Blackwell
Butcher

Quite good, some misses

That team is on a mission to get Shane Wright that's for sure.

So many missed opportunities

Also surprised they have McCann at center and Gourde on wing as Florida and Pittsburgh can tell yah McCann is best suited for being a wing while Gourde plays an incredible 3c role.

Like as soon as I saw Byron I went "this aint it chief" especially when you consider a 22 year old RD prospect in Fleury is sitting right there for the taking

Fleury isn’t a good prospect. His ceiling is probably lower than how good of a player Byron is right now. The only reason Seattle would take Cale is if they were also taking Haydn from Anaheim.

Its getting to that point where Detroit is taking over next to Pittsburgh. God some Pittsburgh fans think Hextall and Burke will lead them to the promise land. I just cannot see it as Burke's track record so far has been awful. Only good thing he did was the Sedins

That's why I try to stay off the ACGM part unless I see someone I know post from time to time

Forums is more relaxing and less stressful

Yeah these threads are so much better then ACGM and they cover more discussion, unless I have a team idea ( might do a couple offseason ACGM ), or have to do my team page for the GM Game, I try to stay away from ACGM

I feel like Seattle takes a shot at Drouin/Price before going for a Byron/Kulak/Fleury

Definitely think this seems to be a self preservation move as there seems to be no apology or what not or regret.

Still a right step

If Buffalo lowers their price just a little bit (so Anahiem doesn’t have to include Zegras) he’ll be off to the Ducks for sure. Because I doubt anyone could match Anaheim’s package including the 3rd overall pick after the 1st round is over.

100%. As you said, no apology or anything, and let's be real, what is he really losing here? A ton of teams have already added him to their do not draft list and more probably will. There was a good chance he wouldn't have gotten selected anyway, and certainly not where he expected to be. And it's not like he was going to be stepping right into the show next year; he'd be going back to London regardless. This really has no downside for him. PR move.

Yeah I don’t think getting a third or less or some sort of cap exchange for him is as valuable as what he likely brings into the locker room plus ice. At this point (assuming there’s no internal issues which I doubt there is any) - PK is a benefit to the young core in New Jersey. Plus he helps the business side.

Here’s a idea I’ve been toying around in my head with.

Seattle goes to Tampa and offers a life line:

Johnson (3 years at 5) - negative/ depreciating asset
Palat (1 year at 5.3) - positive asset/ neutral asset
2022 First
Prospect idk? Something.

In Exchange for

Some middle 6 expansion selection (nothing super valuable but someone along the lines of Donato or a Kerfoot type thing)

I think Seattle gets a 3rd line Center who’s a reasonable buyout candidate next year if they need money. And Palat who brings a winning mentality along with Johnson but Palat is actually a serviceable top 6 winger. Tampa frees nearly 10 mil or gains like 8 with a roster guy coming back.

I do think this is something Tampa should bite the bullet on. This is obviously only my idea no one has ever thought of this trust me.

But I do think Seattle has a lot of side deals that should happen, I hope they make things interesting.

Plus, we need him to reach the cap floor
Our best bet is to wait till the deadline and then trade him 50% retained

I'd say Borgen. Girgensons hasn't played all year.

What is the most you’d give Landeskog on a 7 year deal?
