Most likely the main reason why Kaprizov would consider heading to CSKA for a year is the Olympics. Provided he's healthy, he's going to get a guaranteed position in that ROC team. It's still uncertain whether NHL players are heading there or not.

Regardless, I don't think Kaprizov deserves anywhere near a $9-10M contract based on one NHL year if the term is that short and leads straight to UFA. That's just shooting themselves in the foot big time.

He's UFA on 3 years. Offer him that with the cap hit of $7M and try to deal him during that timespan for futures actually willing to play there. That's what I'd do. They can't realistically build a contending team in the next 5 years with having $14M less cap to spend compared to others.

Well by the time that he would sign with CSKA (September 1st) you’d think the NHL would already have to figured out what’s happening for the Olympics, so it’s not like that will be an unknown factor that might influence his decision.

Ah yes, they really wasted that 5th round pick.

I was referring to the signing of the now rusty, 2-boat anchors that are Parise/Suter.
KK's agent knows he'll never win with this group after being saddled w/ mui-dead-Cap + +; it's get PAID or get SHOPPED...

Until we have the confirmation the Olympics will be a factor of some kind. How big...only time will tell.

The thing is the KHL has a very lose cap system. I don't know how to properly explain it but there's a reason only 4-5 teams in that league dominate so much. CSKA will give him the money there's no question even if they are over the cap and the league wont care much.

Kind of except no luxury taxes or super luxury. Its confusing. But rarely does a team go over the cap. CSKA would do it for a year then move on.

Instead CSKA will pay the KHL Stabilization fund which basically allows them to spend over the cap but 30% of earnings go to the KHL or something like that

If by loose cap system you mean his “salary” will be like $100k and he’ll get $10mil delivered in paper bags by a masked figure then sure lol

I'd say injured Eichel. You have some contract certainty with him unlike Kap

I'm not trying to be biased but I think the Rangers have an overrated future

1. Bad center depth
The last 5+ Stanley Cup Winners have had great center depth, especially a 1-2 punch at center. It seems like teams need good centers to win a cup. The Rangers don't have good centers or good center prospects

2. Bad GM
It is early to tell but Drury is not a good GM. He hasn't made any good moves this offseason and with him controlling the Rangers' future, I wouldn't trust him.

3. Terrible cap situation
The Rangers are going to be very cap-strapped with many of young players coming off of ELC, they won't have the money to pay them all.

Eichel, more experienced NHLer, was a captain, contract guarantee

Actually there was a time when Putin was the prime minister and Dmitry Medvedev was the president.

During that time though, there was just this tiny law that gave the prime minister the full political authority in that country.

Not sus at all amirite
