Laine had a down year and cbj won’t be selling him at his lowest value. Well take our chances with a bounce back.

Turris is a cap dump. You will need to send a 3rd round pick in addition for Detroit to take his contract off your books.

CBJ won’t sell Laine for that low. That trade basically would have just been them losing PLD for nothing then.

Klefbom will be off LTIR by october, and thats an extreme low ball for Martinez, I would expect at least 5.5

A few thoughts:

Laine - he’ll sign for $7M if it’s more than 1 year. He has Arb rights, and he’s an elite goal scorer who had a bad year at the wrong time. To acquire him, EDM would need to send a lot more. It would start with an A prospect (one of Bouchard, Broberg, Halloway) and then add to that either a 1st or a B/B+ prospect like Lavoie or Savoie.

Martinez should make $5M+ as and RFA, there will be 10+ teams interested.

Larsson should make $4M+, with multiple teams interested in a top 4 RD who can defend and play alongside talented offensive young dmen.

Goodrow is in line for $2.5-$3M on a 3 or 4 year deal. He’s a really solid bottom 6 forward, and that’s what those players with a playoff track record get paid.

It would be a wonderful team, but I don’t think the contract values are high enough, and EDM doesn’t have enough space in this roster to increase all of them to make it more realistic.

Great players, great depth and blend of vets and youth, but not realistic.

Ottawa declines and suggests you investigate what teams might be actually need before suggesting trades.

The return on Laine is far too low. It's not close to being realistic

If I’m Detroit I’d take Turris for a 6th. He still can play if he gets the minutes IMO, and worst case at half retained he’s like $750k to another team at the TDL for more than a 6th rounder.

Ottawa might take him back in a deal for Tierney though. Not sure what the ask is on him, probably a 3rd or 2nd round pick, but as a 3C he might work out for Edmonton

Probably not a 3rd given his buried cap hit is 525k

But definitely something

7th should suffice

Lol @ "goodrow playoff track record" 🙄

So he rides shotgun to Gourde and Coleman and that is a credit to him? While he has 10 points in 60 career playoffs (in healthy toi) with -3.5 corsi. Yikes.

His input in the TB cup run was sparse and fringe

Just because a player is part of good playoff teams

Doesn't mean they're a significant contributor

I don't know, he looked cooked to me in the Edmonton games I watched. Maybe they don't need to add as high as a 3rd, but I would say 4th/5th at minimum and that's if Yzerman thinks he'll actually play. I still say at least a 3rd if he's going to be immediately sent down/waived.

Playoff record and ‘significant contributor’ are two very different concepts, and $2M per year different in salary, pretty much Coleman at $3.5 to $5m per vs Goodrow at $1.5-$3M.

How many players are awesome in the Reg season, and the disappear when the playoff symbols get painted on the ice? WAY too many. With Goodrow, teams know he can play at a 3rd line level. Is he the top option on a 3rd line...nope...but top options on third lines either make more than $2M or are on ELCs and will make MUCH more than $2M.

Could he sign for $1.5, maybe, but under $2M he returns to TB, they can easily afford that. To get him, other teams will need to pony up more than $2M, I expect $2.5 or so, $3M would be an overpay in my opinion.

No chance Ottawa takes Turris back. At least not without a sweetener coming from Edmonton.
Even if we lose Tierney (who is way more valuable than Turris) to Seattle I'd rather see Clark Bishop pivot the bottom line than Turris.
If Ottawa goes after a pivot it has to be someone that can play in the top 6 (allowing Pinto to play the 3rd line). We do not need another bottom 6 pivot - at all.
