1st Hawks just signed McCabe.
2nd that just a pile of stuff for Rielly is not what a Rielly trade would look like.
3rd you add in kerfoot and engvall

The whole trade is bad

Also why would canes just trade away they traded for? Yes they traded a guy that was going to be traded anyway for him but still

What's with thinking Rielly won't get a good return if leafs decide to trade instead of extending. It don't make sense. If he's being traded the trade will have good assets. It's simple. Adding kerfoot and engvall into that mess of a trade is silly.

I hate that take. And not only because it's about Rielly. So much can change and in FA there be a war to get him. Look at the LD UFA pool. It's Leddy Lindholm and Pulock and Gio. Would assume Pulock and Lindholm both get resigned. Rielly is the best Dman

You Leafs fans keep trading him to teams that don't need him or have room for him. McCabe is now a cost-controlled solid dman. Why would they move him for one year of Reilly? It makes no sense.

Rielly is also not a top dman. He's a very good #2 dman. He had one crazy season and Leafs fans act like he's Hedman.

Yes because McCabe a middle pair 20 pt career high dman is better than a 1st pair PP QB dman just because he has term? Like what. Also who's saying it's one year of Rielly. Like I said lots can change from now till then. I'm not staying Rielly to Chicago is the move if he's traded. Just saying that value added with kerfoot is even more dumb than if it's just rielly

Reilly is not a top dman. He had one crazy season. He's not even a top 20 dman in the league. He's not worth moving a decent cost-controlled player for one year.

He's not even on the block. It's just rumor that if we can't extend him by the season we should trade him and it's only fueled by the FAs we let walk recently and not wanting to do it again. The LD FA pool is weak and Rielly is the best one just because he walks LOTS of teams will be in on him and willing to pay. Trading and extending him take all that out

Morgan Reilly was #15 in points amongst dmen this year. He was #56 last year, but to be fair he didn't play a full season. That said he was #24 in points per game amongst dmen. He's not a top dman.

Canes don’t want to downgrade dmen. Especially for a guy we just traded for. That’s an awful offer.

And pass on Mikheyev. No need for him - we already have 4-5 guys who slot in on 4th line and PK.
