How do you calculate someone’s trade value. Just a question. Sometimes it’s pretty hard

It become more natural as you do it. I'd say take McDavid, he worth about 6-8 first round picks. Untradeable pretty much. Same with Mackinnon, Matthews, Makar, Fox, Hedman, McAvoy...etc. I calculate alot of it as how replaceable is the player? Longevity of career left/and contract left. What their contract status is RFA, UFA or ELC. How old they are, what there AAV of their contract is, Salary left on the contract(not a big deal but can matter). I'd say it more like McAvoy and Fox and Makar are all similar trade values, if you where to replace them with each other you wouldn't lose much between them, same ages, similar contracts, similar time left on contract, good production probably the 3 best RD right now. Take a player like Moritz Seider. If you traded Seider for Fox rn you would want to add probably a first and another good prospect on top of Seider because if the uncertainty Seider will reach that eschelon of greatness in the NHL, in 3 years Seider could be up there with those other 3 D but his uncertainty lowers his value...make sense?

Oh, lol...it's not really that good of an example. Sometimes you can go into Hockey Reference .com and look at their WAR stats to compare players.

A couple years back I did this comparing 2 players who where really similar in my opinion still are but Vràna and Fiala. Could be a 1 for 1 trade duo if ever traded lol.

2 years ago Fiala and Vràna would be good one for ones, after last year I'd have added on Vràna because he produced less and missed games for injury and now id add on Fiala because he signed only for 1 year and he hasn't produced as much as Vràna in the first 8-11 games.
