Good for Carey if he only needed a short break but please take all the time you need, this ship is sinking and you don't need to feel that it's your job to save it

The problem is that he probably does, even though the Habs' woes aren't really due to goaltending, Allen hasn't been great but he's been better than 3-9

Edvinsson has nine points in 15 games for first-place Frolunda. That’s the highest points per game for an Under-19 player in SHL history. His impressive start has Sweden fans talking about including him on the Olympic team, that is some high praise for an 18 year old. At 6-foot-5 and 207 pounds, he’s an imposing force on the blue line, with deceptively great skating (even for his size). If the more simple defensive plays don’t work, he’ll get physical to halt oncoming offensive charges.

Yep, I mean Dahlin has the second most points as a teenager in NHL history after Phil Housley. He's 6'3" 210, has maybe the best stick skills from a Dmen in the NHL (can't flip a puck past him). I'd take 44 points in 82 NHL games over 9 in 15 SHL for an 18 year old dman. Dahlin also only weighed like 180 his 18 year old season, definitely wasn't grown into himself at all. His next year he was on pace for 55 points. Then the Kruger was our coach for a year.

Another update: Anthony Mantha has undergone shoulder surgery and is out "indefinitely" according to the Caps

He might not feel the need to save the team but yeah, Allen has been good, our problems lays in our defence and offense

I was thinking the same thing. I will try to find out tomorrow, unless someone beats me to it. I don't think it's happened in many years, if at all. Also, there were 3 total hat tricks tonight. I wonder when that last happened, too?

Found it: The last time two players scored 4 goals each on the same night was March 26, 1996. The two players that did it were Keith Tkachuk (for Winnipeg) and some guy named Mario Lemieux.

When the whole team sucks, except the goalie. Kinda points towards a bad head coach. head coaches don't normally affect the goalie with their play style except for leaving then with a bunch of bad breaks. I'd say if the Habs hadn't made the cup last year they woulda fired their coach soon.

Who's Lemieux? Got lucky one time and scored 4 goals?

I like to think they just did it in the locker room, with the team huddled around watching

Oh yeah, Ducharme wasn’t great during last years regular season and I’d argue the playoff run saved him, can’t really comment on this year since I don’t really watch the games

Media/ Sharks insiders think he’s staying; Eklund thinks he should stay, Couture says Eklund should stay. But management hasn’t communicated with Eklund or anyone on their decision/ which way they’re leaning. Since SJS are pacific time we could here soon since it’s probably late morning there now.

As we get closer to Lapierre hitting the 9 game limit, I'm interested as to what the Capitals decide to do. I doubt they will keep him up, as they can call up someone like a Malenstyn or a Sgarbossa to fill his role, but I don't know if going back to the Q is the smartest play for him. In my opinion, playing in the Q won't help him develop any further, but the Caps don't have a lot of options. Him not being able to play in the AHL really hurts, but I think the Caps best move at the 9 game mark would be to send him to Europe. That way he can play against more experience competition and hopefully further his development. A major hurdle is that I think he would be going in alone with not many (if any) connections there, but if it helps him I'd be willing to do it if I was DC.

A little surprised, was consistently one of their most dangerous offensive threats and appeared to be managing the defending side of the puck well for a young player

I mean I had more problems with him during the playoffs than I did during the regular season last year.

I'm disappointed, but if I'm a sharks fan I'm very excited for what he can do in a full season next year.

Well there’s the word.

I think it’s the best decision. Eklund has shown he can/ will be an elite player but I’m going to sound like a broken record; he adds maybe 10-20 pounds of muscle and just builds some athletic strength (he’s not gonna be Hertl/ Meier big and strong) and he WILL be an elite player.

I think Eklund has the tools to be a version of Barzal (so I’m basically in love). Eklunds key takeaway is that he’s just so sneaky. Like how Burns called him a lizard, he’s just so agile and sly. Eklund; if he takes this as determination to make the NHL full time (which all signs point to him taking this as a positive experience) - he’s gonna be a heck of a player.

He definitely looked amazing but had a dozen of times where it was clear that he wasn’t ready. I can admit while giving Eklunds debut games a solid 8/10 overall (just a rough example) that he definitely will gain from being reassigned.

Absolutely, the only worry, and if it is one, would be Djurgardens IF is not a very good team, second last in SEL.
