Vinzenz Rohrer from Austria might be an interesting prospect to keep an eye on. As a 17yo, he’s currently second in scoring on the Ottawa 67s with 22 points in 28 games. Picked up an assist on Austria’s 1st goal vs. Canada and won MVP of the game. He might get bumped to the 2nd line on the 67s now that Tyler Boucher left BU, but it’s not bad production for a young guy. And Dave Cameron is a good coach, he’s probably a guy that will get a lot of specific attention, seeing how the 67s are rebuilding after the loss of Rossi/Quinn. Cameron likes his speed, hockey IQ, and compete level, which is pretty high praise from a good coach. Very skilled. He’s barely eligible for the 2022 draft (by 6 days) so he’s got room to grow as a young 04 bday. It will be interesting to see him represent Austria at the world juniors this tournament and next tournament, he’ll probably continue to get top line minutes alongside potential 1st round pick Marco Kasper. I wonder if he’s a guy teams might have interest in taking with a late round pick. This is one of my favourite things about the WJC, looking for potential late round steals in the best players from the lower end countries. I think both German Florians (Elias and Bugl) fall into that category as well.

Freak of nature. Seriously, the fact that he's (deservedly) getting McDavid hype (meaning both the fact that no junior has been this hyped since McDavid AND he's getting McDavid comparisons) and he's FREAKING 16-unreal

Yeah I noticed him a bit and put him in my watch out for...list

The other guy I was impressed with Joel Määttä

Before this tourney people were going why was he invited

Well for one his defensive game is incredible and as he has shown in the tourney there is some hidden offense to his game.

Could be a good 5th to 7th round pick

Seems to me from your description ( not sure if this is his 1st year but he’s probably an overager ) he’d be a late round pick if drafted at all who has a great defensive game and who’ll never be much more than a bottom 6 player but, the floor may be higher than other prospects

Yeah he’s a double overager with 0 points in 14 games at the university of vermont, and only 20 points in 52 games as an overager in the USHL last year. If you can’t produce ANY offense in a lower league I doubt a team is gonna take a chance on you no matter how good your defense is tbh

Bedard, Michkov, Fantilli, Dvorsky so many interesting prospects that you’ve heard of before their draft year, for me, i pretty much only knew Wright before this year

Oof, that WILL hurt draft stock if most viewings are from 2021 and there's the question of how well he rehabs, he was at 10 in my last rankings and will be in the top 10 in my next one ( I'm getting closer to completing it )

Personally I think enough teams have seen enough from Jiricek to still draft him in the top 10. Again it will come down to fit and team needs but I certainly wouldn’t be passing on him. I’d still select him as the 1st Dman over Nemec.

Yeah, Jiricek probably still goes top 10 but personally, I really can't see Jiricek over Nemec

Knies is every Leaf fans dream of a power forward. I think you can make the argument even after only his freshman year with the Gophers that is their best forward prospect. Injuries have hurt Robertson's and Amirov's stock a bit for sure but Knies looks like he is trending to be that top 6 fwd we have dreamed about getting. Big, strong, skates well, and really good hands.

This is a great breakdown here

I think it depends which kind of play style you prefer. Their styles differ quite a bit and whichever style you prefer will probably determine who of the two you have higher in your rankings. But I have Nemec higher as well.

Carolina trading down to get Morrow and Koivunen was such a boss move.

I will soon release my updated draft rankings ( everyone with an average under 90 that I had enough info to rank ).

It will have around 55 players ( currently at 54 ranked with 4 left, last ranking had 45 players ). Scouting on those players will have been done anywhere from December 22nd to now so certain players WJC appearance will not factor into their ranking until the next one.
