Anaheim in FIRST????
Calgary flying high at second (within 1 point of first)
Edmonton who’s reeling (lost five ina row now)

Vegas (WC2) tied with EDM in points
SJS right behind within 1 point of both VGK, EDM

LA is in the hunt and Vancouver is scraping by after a horrible start to now building towards making a run.

Then you have the Kraken but who cares.

CAL is the only lock imo.

EDM, SJS, VGK are fighting each other for third with LA in the mix. To make it even more interesting you have WPG, COL, DAL plus EDM, SJS, VGK, LA, VAN all fighting for both wild cards. Then you have ANA who may never fall but they’re riding high for now and may stay that way.

It’s incredibly close but more so super interesting with whos in the mix. ANA a “rebuilder” in damn first, CAL trying to make a run, VAN trying to actually become competitive (and so far succeeding with BB), SJS LA more “rebuilders” fighting for a spot. Then you have VGK, COL(WC1), WPG , EDM all teams that want a cup who are fighting these dogs.

Then you look at the East, the playoff standings are pretty much set:

Buffalo doesn't have a chance but if they keep UPL up and somehow someone dropped off terribly the sabres could get close to a wild card spot.

BUF is 10 points back of BOS (who have 3 games in hand), 13 points back of PIT. It would take a herculean effort to get back in. Plus, nothing is worst then being in the middle. I’d say hope for a top 5 pick

Oh, I hope they send UPL down just because of that reason. Sabres should play Dell or Subban or Takorski and Anderson and trade whichever ones playing best at the deadline.

One team I wouldn’t count out yet is Detroit for a wild card. It’s unlikely that this run of form is sustainable but I think they could still shock some people. Ned and Greiss have surprised me as a tandem, and all the rookies are contributing well. I think they could, if all goes well, possible knock New York or Pittsburgh out of a Wild Card spot

DET has given up the 5th most goals against (96) in the NHL. The both rookies have been a great story but I don’t see them challenging for a wild card spot 🤷‍♂️
