tippett gotta go now

Created by: datmonkey91
Team: 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 31, 2021
Published: Dec. 31, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I really played myself thinking the team tippett was given was bad, and as that is true, the team performed better under gulutzan even with a depleted lineup. there's a lot to say about tippett but the recent play of the oilers speaks for itself.

With the Rangers having no plans to move Georgiev, they dont do this.

Why would the Rangers trade for a goalie? And not even a very good one that is overpaid? No thanks.

I don't think any coach is winning with this goaltending. Smith showed his true colors, the defense is extremely flawed, and they can't seem to find the right line combinations on offense.

That makes sense if they didn't move Georgiev but otherwise, Koskinen can go to another team that needs a backup for the same price

Defense was always bad but the offense should never dry up with the players they have. It happens too often under tippett and didn't happen in the two games Gulutzan coached

Two games? You're comparing how many games under Tippett to two games under Gulutzan? That seems like an unfair comparison. Gulutzan has way too small a sample size for that argument.

I think given their cap space issues and the draft picks that'd have already been blown on trades the last few years the best thing the Oilers could do without blowing 1sts/A-prospects would be to get some better defensive bottom six forwards like Larsson from Arizona, some guys who may not light up the score sheet but can help keep the pucks out of the net and not cost too much to acquire.

Really don't think they can do much to fix the defense or goaltending this year, they just gotta hope Bouchard and Broberg can develop into legit top 4 dmen sooner then later.

Columbus declines, they still don’t want Barrie, they are looking to get younger and rebuild vs trading picks for players to try and win the cup in the next few years.

D-men like Ben Chiarot, Tyson Barrie, Colin Miller, and Damon Severson are criminally overrated on ACGM for some strange reason

Ottawa doesn't want to trade Connor Brown (or at least SHOULD NOT WANT)

The main weakness in their lineup is the lack of QUALITY Veterans. 90% of the quality they have are young players who had to do it by themselves without any veteran to rely on, except Connor. Plus the 2 positions where they need an upgrade are RW and RD, and Brown is a RW. You're creating a big need by doing this.

They have to extend him for like 5 years at 5.0, hopefully he is not too greedy

If this is NOT POSSIBLE, then the Sens need to trade him but NOT for that kind of return, secondary pieces that MAY or MAY NOT help the team in a few years.
