I’m not sure how much lower it can get for Montreal than letting Kane score in his first game

The only two trades of consequence I need to see not performed by the Oilers by the start of next season are:

- Chychrun to Florida for Knight, Hornqvist, Tippett, and a 1st
- Turcotte, Grans, and a second for Sergachev

Those have been kicking around in my head for a minute and they make too much sense to not happen.

Well the good new is Chycrun to Florida probs does not happen

As the main issue is Hornqvist M-NTC

As for sure Arizona on his list of teams he has no desire to go to.

Cause why go from a contender to a tanker.

Got a feeling in 2022 hes getting bought out as Panthers will only have 4mill in cap space.

Tampa moving Sergechev though also seems unlikely for now.

I don't know about the second one but I like the first trade

Problem is that the Lightning need Sergachev down the stretch, the left side of the D is thinner than paper once you get past Hedman/McDonagh/Sergachev

I’m sorry but that’s just an absurd thing to say lmao, “our left side is so thin behind our THREE top pair level guys.” Hedman+McDonagh alone are better than most teams’s 3 best LD, and you can find a serviceable 3LD for a late round pick, they’re super common (could probably snag Lauzon or Haydn Fleury for like a 4th from Seattle, or just sign one). Tampa would probably be better off dealing Sergachev for upgrades elsewhere, and you could do worse than a future top 6 forward (Tampa lacks forward prospects with top 6 upside), a decent RD prospect (your right side is much thinner than your left even without Sergachev…), and a 2nd. That’s probably an off-season move anyway (or maybe doesn’t happen until 2023), because you know Sergachev is gonna want to get paid, because he’s probably a top pair guy on most teams, and would likely prefer a raise and term when his bridge is up.

Heres the problem while fair Arizona is insisting on Lundell (makes sense as hes the perfect piece to build around)

Florida unless I'm wrong does not want to move Lundell

And so I dont see a deal between the 2 teams happening

If I'm Florida I'd be wanting Arizona to add to anything that involves Lundell for Chychrun... I mean Lundell is 20 has 3 years left of ELC vs and 29 points in 40 games as an NHL Center, trade that for a 23 year old with 4 years in his contract that expires as a UFA. Not sure I see the reason to trade a future ppg 2C behind Barkov for a #1LD when they already have Weegar, Forsling and Carlson on the left side. Not by any means are they better than Chychrun but I think they are all above replacement and I think the upgrade of Chychrun for the next 4 years isn't more valuable than the upgrade that Lundell is for the next 4 years. I think Lundell is going to be another Barkov Aho type player.

I mean...Ontario makes up most of the relevent population, Quebec watches it all in French so...doesn't count. And BC has its own section afterwards right?

Price has a press conference tomorrow. People think he will retire.

That is crazy. And probably won’t happen, what do you think.

As a joke someone said to announce a divorce from his wife lol

I mean remember Arizona has all the power when it comes to a Chycrun trade. They dont really got to move him so they can set a price point and teams interested can either negotiate around or pay the price.

With other teams at their doorstep for Chycrun could see a bidding war which will probs result in someone overpaying

And to be honest it may not be a bad thing.

As if he could get 18 goals and 23 assists in 56 games with the Coyotes imagine him on a team like Florida, Boston, Carolina. 60+ point/20 goal Dman could happen

So if Florida wants him they may have to outbid the competition to get him.

Not saying I would do it but sometimes sacrifices must be made to achieve post season success.

Thatcher Demko should literally sue the Canucks. Makes more than DOUBLE the saves of Markstrom (who only had to stop 15 shots, Robin Lehner faced more than that in the 3rd period ALONE earlier tonight), stopping all 31 frozen volcanized rubber discs shot his way, and then the 32nd is shot past him by Johnny Gaudreau and the Flames win 1-0 in OT. Are you kidding me?

I have now sat through 2 1-0 OT games. An oilers Carolina game(got the tickets for free a few years back from my mom's work) and tonight's horrible game against Vancouver. Get a PP player please Trevling. We need the help

VAN has gotten it wrong so many times over the last few years. Maybe more mistakes than any other team. Trading J.T. Miller would be another disaster. Especially now. He's your best player by far! There are other ways to save cap space. For those convinced Petey and Boeser are the cornerstones, it'll cost well over $17M AAV to keep both of them after Petey's bridge deal expires. Imagine $17M+ AAV on .5 ppg haha.

Guys like J.T. Miller are so tough to find. Unless they're blown away with an offer (i.e. an A+ prospect/young roster player AND multiple 1st rounders), they already have their foundational player. Obviously, if a contract extension is not in the cards, then he can be dealt eventually. I've just never heard of a player of this caliber getting dealt when he's not a pending UFA. That being said, if there's a specific offer, it's always worth listening.

While I’m a huge fan of JT Miller, he is 28 years old, and will no re-sign with Vancouver in two years from now. We can’t keep him so we can’t just lose him for nothing which is what Jim Benning was so famous for doing. Both Pettersson and Boeser have had rough seasons but you’re acting like they are easily replaceable… Back to my original point, Vancouver probably only starts becoming a legit playoff contender in around 2 years if they start a mini retool rn by trading Miller cause he won’t help the Canucks in 2 years if he has signed somewhere else

Jacob Markstrom has now tied Mikka Kippersoff for 2nd in shutouts in a season. He is 3 away from tying Flames all time 1 season record(set by Kipper) of 10 in 05-06 season. Does he set a new Flames record this season?
