Ducks are sending a pick with Stolie to give you guys cap space? Seems kinda weird to downgrade, eat money, and also give up a pick, no?

Everyone else has already touched on the Isles deal, so i won't

Kinda doubt Dermott gets that at this point, I see Leafs fans complain about him as a much as anyone

Minnesota has absolutely no need or want for Holl, who isn't even worth close to a 3rd right now

No one wants Engvall

I don't know would want Mrazek at this point, he's not exactly cheap and he's always hurt.

Do you really think the Isles are trading a 22yo emerging top pair D-Man and not getting a 1st, or top 6 forward in return.

This is a really, really bad trade.

He's an injury plagued goalie locked up for 2 more years with with an AAV of $3.8 mil, and a payout of $4.2/$4.4 mil. He has also put up below league average numbers in 4 out of the past 6 seasons, and hasn't played more than 40 games since 2017.

Stolie on the other hand has one year left after this one, @$950 k, and has been quite fine in a backup role (above league average over the past two season in a small sample size).

The Ducks also have John Gibson (prettttty good goalie), and a near NHL-ready Lukas Dostal playing in the AHL. 1 more year of Stolie fits the Dostal timeline perfectly. 2 more years of Mrazek does not.

You may not have to pay to get rid of him, but the dollars owed vs actual cap hit also isn't typically something that teams trying to hit the floor are fans of.

Islanders are only doing that deal if you take out LIljegren and add Muzzin, they could only be happy giving you their 22 y/o top 4 RHD if you give them *all* the contracts that are a drain on your cap.

I mean, has he shown that he's anything more than an overpaid backup?

Mrazek: 2.93 GAA, 0.902 save percentage on an excellent defensive team (top 8 at the halfway point)
Stolarz: 2.76 GAA, 0.917 save percentage on an above-average defensive team (top 16 at the halfway point)

Yes, it's true, it's a downgrade.

by that logic, John gibson would be a downgrade on jack campbell

Yes, that's right, this season, he is. The difference is that next year, Campbell's performance might slip and, depending upon where he goes, might slip a lot; Gibson is signed for five more years and we all know what can be expected of him, which is why I wouldn't exchange Gibson for Campbell (or trade Gibby to sign Campbell). Mrazek, on the other hand, isn't going to improve from where he is right now, for the reasons set forth by my friend @Lenny7 in Comment #11 above.

still amazed that not only is Toronto getting Dobson for a deal that prominently includes Nick Ritchie, but they're also convincing him to sign for 3x3 when he gets across the border
