I think the story is CGY not including one of their top prospects was a win

MTL could easily get a Coronato type player with pick 20-27 this draft.

That is true, the draft might not have a true n.1 pick but it does have good depth

I think this draft is deeper than last draft, but I wouldn’t go that far. A Coronato comparable would be Lekkerimaki, who I currently have 15th and expect to go somewhere in the 12-18 range.

I can proudly say (i think) that I am the first person to post a 2022 mock draft.

It's not any good and after about pick 8 I was befuddled but oh well

But didn't insert random mad Red Wings fan say Zegras sucks defensively because he's a -12 and because of his zone starts...

(I'm aware one stat doesn't prove anything, but most stats except line stats, etc. show he's good defensively.)

Oh, and can we talk about Boldy more? He's sooo good. Love watching him. Had he started playing for the Wild 10-15 games earlier, he'd at least be Top 3 in Calder voting.

Question to those who scouted this year’s draft: who has the best offensive upside in this class? And what would be their comparison?

I haven't scouted alot but I'd assume Cooley - Point maybe and Sjalovsky - Rantenan? Idk that seem close.

To me it's probably a tie between Savoie (comp: Marchand) and Cooley (comp: Point) at least in terms of upside. Wright's more of an all-rounder imo and he's very good at everything, but he doesn't have a defining offensive trait and he's not as flashy. Wright and Cooley are basically tied for 1OA on my board.

(Fyi: Wright's a lot better than Savoie defensively imo, but not as good as Cooley. But Wright doesn't have a real weakness. There are areas of his game that could be improved, but no real weaknesses. Cooley's "weaknesses" are shot selection & power, stick reach.)

It's funny to me how Point works as a comparison for both Savoie and Cooley. I just really like the Marchand comparison and I think he works a bit better for Savoie.

Best offensive upside, hmm, probably Savoie, Cooley or Kemell, Wright’s well rounded and has good potential but doesn’t have that wow factor like some others do. For comps, I don’t do those, I just do player types

Theres an even darker horse for the Calder that people want to forget but cant

Legally he still qualifies as a rookie prospect lul

So far so good 15 goals and 17 assists

Zegras is at worst average defensively. RAPM has him slightly above average at preventing quality shots against and shot suppression

Boldy is sick. I would have done Hertl almost 1for1 if Minnesota woulda bit in the offseason.

But now the kid is exactly what Minnesota dreamed of and more, and Rossi is nearby as another ELC too.

Minnesota should go all in tbh before that dead cap hits.

Scouching Prospect Pyramid

this is pretty cool to look at. on a Oilers note that is a insulting low rating for Skinner

They have a solid view of those builds - overall a pretty good read for anyone wanting some overall view of the league.

If I recall correctly I think that article is a few months old tho.

Couple months ago on the old forum we, as in cap friendly users went through and updated this list a bit. Made a sheet based off it.

These charts seem a bit sketchy..

I like the idea but some of the guys should be higher for a good chunk of the teams

One thing that got me mad was they put Sandin in depth rather than Core...NANI!!!!

Canada will potentially be able to add Cole Sillinger. And players who had COVID and couldn't go, like Thomas Bordeleau (USA) or Aatu Räty (FIN). Should make for a great competition.
