So the Avalanche are going to replace the remainder of this year plus five more years of Sam Girard for the balance of this season and one set of Stanley Cup playoffs of Ben Chiarot?!?!?

I don't think so.

Sure Montreal trades away four roster player and not even get a 1st round pick or top prospect back? As good as Girard is, if Montreal trades out every living soul out of town he'll clearly not a fit for our rebuild.

COL wouldn’t trade Girard alone for that package of misfit toys. Girard is better than Chychrun.

there is nothing in that trade that gets you Girard, and the downgrade from Girard to Chariot is bad enough to nuke the value even if there was

Yeah zero chance of Hughes retaining 50% on Allen and Drouin for the next 1 1/2 He's not doing that.

They get the best player in the deal by light years locked up for the next half decade on a team friendly deal and he’s a francophone. MTL does that deal in a heart beat, COL doesn’t do it at all.

Ok but Montreal isn't cup contender so let's just get the best player out of the deal and keep him for the time being we're rebuilding. It's not a value problem, it just doesn't fit the timeline.

A rebuilding Montreal gets 0 rebuilding pieces? Yeah Girard is definitely the best player by far but I think if Montreal sold all those pieces at a deadline, they would get quite a few high-round picks. So I guess it's what you value more but I don't think Montreal is looking to compete in that Girard window.

Why would he? Outside of Girard it's not that great.

That deal isnt great, but the concept of retaining on Drouin and Allen isnt the issue.

I think you would be very disappointed in what those guys would return. Lehkonen is by far the best piece and he is a 3rd liner. Drouin is a $5M cap hit that plays like a $3.5M cap hit, Chiarot if he returns a 1st will be the greatest heist ever he is a traffic cone, Allen is hurt and not particularly good. Girard is a 23yr old top pairing quality dman that scores 30pts in his sleep and is locked up half a decade it doesn’t get more building block than that. But like I said COL NEVER does that trade.

Both trades are very lopsided. Avs and Isles both say NO.

This is a very heavy anti-Montreal opinion block. You already know Drouin is a mid-6 offensive forward, Chiarot has been rumored almost everywhere to fetch a 1st and maybe even a later pick and Lehkonen looks like he can play a good supporting role anywhere in the lineup.

I’m not a Montreal fan, I actually don’t like them. And I’m never saying Colorado thinks of doing this. But don’t try and act like they’re not going to get a good haul for these guys because of some heavy biased opinions

It’s not anti-Montreal at all, I could care less. Just because reporters say Chiarot is going to get something doesn’t mean he is worth it

Drouin has scored 20 goals or more once in his career and left the team in the playoffs last year, you don’t think GM’s would use those facts and his cap hit against giving up any real resources for him.

Lehkonen, nice 3rd line player, doesn’t play center, needs a new contract, has never scored more than 31pts in a season, but a guy writes “he could be this years Coleman” and all the sudden everybody is going to overpay like TBL did?

Allen is hurt and like most of Montreal has not been good. Unless you think .901sv% and and 3.15 gaa is good.

Outside of Lehkonen there are better and cheaper options out there, but nothing I said was factually incorrect.
