It’s a good thing you have $11 mil in cap space, because Gaudreau and Tkachuk are gonna split it.

Detroit wouldn't consider that even if the pick went the other way.

laugh Yeah for the greater good of the team, Klingberg, Gaudreau and Tkachuk aren't taking $3,000,000 less then their current values just to benefit Calgary financially. both Gaudreau and Tkachuk get minimally 8 x $9,500,000 and Klingberg probably 7 x $8,000,000 unless Calgary is a tax free city which it isn't. None of those 3 are taking major discounts.

And FYI Detroit passes big time, Zero chance of Lucic commanding that kind of return. As of now he's a liability not an asset especially not for Detroit.

No they really don't need to do an overhaul in the offseason. Move out one of Monahan/Lucic and pretty much just run it back as is with Pelletier coming up and Valimaki replacing Zadorov.

Im not even going to get into the laughable contract offers or the trades

While you are correct that they are all underpaid here 8.5Mx8 for Gaudreau and Tkachuk is not unrealistic at all. Klingberg should definitely not get more than Krug from anyone. He is also not at all a need for the Flames

No.

We are also helping them clearing up some contract spots.

Johnny Gaudreau is on pace for 110 points a career year for him, So why would he accept 8,5Mx8 from Calgary when he could easily get between 9.5Mx7 to 10.0Mx7 on the open market? And Matthew Tkachuk QO is $9,000,000 so why would he take 500,000 less long term from Calgary. Sorry don't see either one taking 8.5Mx8 at least i'd be surprised if they did.

Simple because you look at the total pay of a contract, not the annual team cap hit. Why do you think 8 year deals always come in at discounts compared to 7 year deals?
8.5M x 8 years = 68M total, 9.5M x 7 years = 66.5M total, 10M x 7 years = 70M. Then factor in that players often take "team friendly discounts" and 68M to stay in a place he loves vs 70M to start a new makes sense.

As for Tkachuk, first of all he probably never sees that QO to begin with as they either sign an extension before FA or Calgary files for Team Arbitration to avoid it all together. I'm not saying he won't sign for 9M or more but he probably gets a very similar AAV to Gaudreau so refer to above

First welcome to CapFriendly and don't let the comments scare you away. All new users overvalue their favorite teams players. So read as many ACGMs with the comments as you can and you'll have it down in no time.
