          Thatcher Demko is not on the table. Literally everybody else on the team gets traded before Demko. Ruthford fanboys over Demko every time he talks about him in an interview

          I think the post is less "the Devs will seriously trade the 5th OA for Thatcher Demko" and more "please Habs fans stop offering us Mike Hoffman+ for the 5th OA when this is the type of deal we'd want to make with it"

          Trading it for Fiala doesn’t make sense when you can get an impact player at 5 and sign Gaudreau or Forsberg or Bura for free.

          But trading it for someone like Demko makes way more sense. Cuz it’s hard to find an elite goalie anywhere

          The problem is that not many teams won young franchise goaltenders are willing to trade them away. The only team I see trading away a top goalie is Winnipeg if they decide to blow it up

          Yep. IMO go for Holtby, Korpisalo, Bura in UFA and draft Jiricek or Nemec with 5

          Fiala is a good option but I rather Devils trade for a goalie

          They have other options for wingers but to get a elite goalie like Demko would be great

          I mean, that pick is 5 right now so, as of now, it’s Wright, Cooley, Slafkovsky, Jiricek, and Nemec. And I think any of those guys could be as good as fiala.

          Even in the tier of guys you just mentioned, Savoie absolutely has that kind of potential. So do Nazar and Lambert.

          Only Wright and Cooley have that type of certainty. Savoie and Lambert might and I stress that might, have that possibility, but it is still an extreme gamble. Nazar is a extreme long-shot to be as good as Fiala is.

          Outside of Wright and Cooley the chances are very small and remote any of those players come anywhere close to Fiala's level of talent or production.

          Idk about “very small”. I mean, Bader has the following:

          Nazar - 23% star probability
          Savoie - 53%

          1 in 4 is hardly “very small and remote”

          But yeah obviously any 18 year old kid isn’t a lock to be a ppg player in the league lol
