Yeah, I'd rather keep Formenton to be honest, he's just starting to come into his own. I know we'd have to give up a bit for him but I'm not that high on Fiala. He's not exactly lighting it up in the playoffs.

people here are talking like they are the GMs of the team, i love it. i feel fiala is gonna be too expensive for ottawa to trade to. i think he ends up somewhere no one will guess.

I like Formenton but we could really use an upgrade

Yeha perosnally I’d rather keep the first this year and target someone cheaper

Honestly, I was on team "we need to keep him" but now I'm firmly on team "trade him for as much as you can get". He's so good when he's on but holy hell he can be streaky which has been a nightmare for our playoff series. Still think he's the one of the best players to ever wear a Wild jersey (maybe 2nd best), but we need a center so badly and Fiala should be our ticket to drafting one.

I think he might end up in Anaheim. Seems like the type of player they have targeted the past several years and they have a top 10 pick this year.

I mean, your own beat writer at the Athletic thinks that pick is going to be moved even if Kemell is on the board.

There’s a difference between:
“ Sens are shopping the pick to see it’s trade value” and “Sens are for sure moving the pick” . They’re not going to trade it for something that doesn’t make sense. The contract has to make sense too

"7. Ottawa Senators: Joakim Kemell, RW, Jyp (FINLAND)

The Senators have never picked in the No. 7 slot before, and I do think there is a chance they could trade this pick for some immediate help before the draft. In the past, the name that would have jumped out to me would have been Frank Nazar, because he seems to check a lot of boxes of what the Sens have drafted in recent years.

But I do think this organization is going to need some high-end talent up front, so as I look at our mock draft up to this point, I’m inclined to lean towards Joakim Kemell in this spot. Kemell exploded out of the gates with his club team in Finland in October, becoming the youngest player in Liiga history to earn the league’s player of the month award. He was leading the entire league in goals (12) and points (16) when a shoulder injury sidelined him in November. From there, he wasn’t able to rediscover his early season magic, but many scouts believe he has the speed and skill that will allow him to be a productive top-six winger in the NHL.

Again, as we move closer to the draft, I think we should expect to hear more chatter about the Sens being open to trading this pick. But for now, let’s plug in Kemell to Ottawa here. —Ian Mendes"

He's looking at $7-8M, with the right roster moves Dorion can make it work long term. Even with Stutzle and Sanderson payments coming up.

Yeah, what kind of weirdo comes to Capfriendly armchair GM and gives their perspective on what they would do as a GM?

Freddy G is killing that line in the o-zone. Boldy has been decent but this is his first Playoffs and it's showing. STL is the only team in the West that has a 3rd line that is better than MN's.

Fiala takes some of the blame for his lack of production, but overall his play has been good. He's also had some terrible luck.

I agree with everything you said there. But your last sentence is the problem: he has these streaks of terrible luck. It's consistent throughout his time here which makes me believe there's something more to it than purely luck. I think he just gets inside his own head too much.

Some of the penalties that Fiala has picked up have been bad luck. Dishing out prime scoring chances and they get shanked or just given away are bad luck for him. Kaprizov making something out of a bad pass on the PP is good luck for Fiala.

Fiala's streakiness is mainly due to not having skilled linemates. I think he's gripping the stick, but he's doing everything the right way and not gambling and trying to be a 1 man show.
