If Kevyn Adams gave that up for Evans and Petry, He should be fired on the spot. Evans and Petry are nowhere worth that kind of return.

And i don't see Chevy trading Connor Hellebuyck for futures, Pretty sure he's going to want some NHL ready players as well.

Trade #1 is outrageous, should be deleted
Trade #2 Winnipeg says NO
Trade#3 Why
Not trying to be rude, but you might want to start liking other players. Well Hellebuyck is pretty good I'll give you that one.

I see the asking prices for guys like helleybuck and Gibson and there is no chance I pay that. Spend money and assets on the skaters in front. Plus we have two or three pretty good goalie prospects.

No way. Evans is a young player with talent and not Petry for that. Habs decline

Might need to buy a goalie to catch up to the rest of the build, just to be peaking all at the same time. Seems like dman and goalies need some more time than forwards. Nice build coming here, possibly be able to buy a tender when the rest of the pieces in place, and free agents will be getting excited about this build also. Helly questioned direction and not wanting to be part of any rebuild in Winnipeg.

It has been reported by Friedman and local beat reporters that Hellebuyck is fine so long as the Jets are trying to contend. That said, the 2023 offseason will be interesting if the Jets don't make the playoffs this coming season.

The Jets are at a crossroads here. One path is to blow it up and trade these guys away while they have max value so that the rebuild is short or we tinker a bit but run it back with a new coach.

IMO a lot depends on what PLD decides to do and what the actual offers on these guys are.

Current indications are that PLD wants to sign but based on his end of season availability, I wonder if he only wants to go 5 years so he can be a UFA at 28. He made sure to talk about the different definitions of long term if it's 5 years, 6 years, 8 years, different people view long term differently.

If we're blown away by the offers though, might make sense to hit the reset if the worst case scenario played out:

i.e. PLD says he doesn't want to be here and wants to go to Montreal. Scheif formally requests a trade. Moving those 2 means that Helle wants out as well. Blake Wheeler than decides he'd also want to move on if possible.

If the Habs gave is 1OA for PLD and then the Devils gave us 2OA for Helle +, then we trade 55 to the Sabres for 9OA + Krebs/Quinn suddenly rebuilding with KFC and Ehlers as the elder statesman with Perfetti, Wright, Lucius, Krebs/Quinn, our russian wingers, etc. could be palatable.

Most likely PLD signs medium-long term (I just feel like it will be a 5 year deal), we continue trying to contend and extend Helle next offseason until he's 35 years old. I also think we likely keep 55 and see what a new coach can do with him.

There would be no way without a extension in place would the Sabres trade 9+ Krebs/Quinn. If the Sabres were more set I could see it, but with only 2yrs left on his contract losing those assets could hurt us if Scheifele walked

Hardly a fair offer, No sane GM is giving up that much for both Evans and Petry.

Yeah it's very doubtful Petry gets 1st+ without there being any retention. He's not getting that for full value.

Have you looked at his numbers? Exclude the Ducharme period and hes a #3 d man and worth every penny of his aav. If Keith can get traded for pretty much a 2nd rounder and a very underrated replacement then Petry is worth so much more. Keith was below and still is below replacement level player. Hes garbage

6th rounder for grzelcyk? Yeesh. He isn’t worth it, but it would probably take a first to pry him out of boston. He’s been a top four D there for a long time and he’s on a cheap contract. When paired with mcavoy they formed one of the best pairings in the league. Don’t see why the Bruins would let him go for less, despite him not being worth it.

Petry is still an excellent Dman right handed while Jake Evans is a very good bottom six Center. A late 1st + Joker vs Petry + Evans would be more fair, you are right. The 2nd RD pick is too much
