Add a 2nd and then ask yourself if you would trade the 1st OA for that package

Dont think the Devil's take it, would depend on Thier opinion of Farrell. If they think he is a grade A prospect then maybe but that's doubtful.

You won't have to pay to trade Petry. He will get a positive return that likely surprises people on this site.

I don't follow NJ but from what I have read they are in win now mode and don't want futures for the pick, they want a player who slots into their top 6.
So they want Caufield for the pick, which I wouldn't do.
It's possible you could work out a package that includes Anderson and another piece for the second pick.
According to most scouts Slafkovski is NHL ready so NJ will most likely keep the pick and select him.

Adding a 2nd from which draft ? And I wouldn't do it for the first overall but the second, that's a different story. The idea is that the draft is in Montreal this year and most here hope Hughes will try to make a BIG splash. Will this be it, who knows until it happens, if anything happens.

Nope, I don't see Mtl taking a chance on a Russian player and besides, they have enough Def.

That's fair. Mukhammadulin is living in the US already but whatever.
Fwiw as for your proposal, I can't see the Devils taking a chance on a criminal and besides, they have enough 4th Liners.

The NJ trades needs to AT LEAST be (if Caufield or Suzuki aren't included):
1st Calgary
Guhle
Romanov or Barron or Farrell
Another 'b' prospect
Young roster player with a reasonable contract (Evans, Poehling, Pitlick)

So, you'd basically need to add at least Guhle to your offer and maybe swap Farrell for Romanov or Barron depending on what they prefer. You might also have to swap Mailloux to someone else depending on what they are looking for and if they want to take on his 'history' or not.

Considering they seem to want cheap players who can play right now, your most like chance to make it work would be:
1st Calgary
Guhle
Romanov
Ylonen or Harris
Pitlick

And, even then, it's probably not enough.

Has to include one of…

- Caufield
- Suzuki
- unprotected 2023 1st

Without one of those included in the package, it’s hard to make a sum-of-the-parts deal here.

I'd do that Petry trade

Maybe if it was future considerations going back to Montreal. He has a $6.25M cap hit for the next 3 seasons.

Its not a different story, the point is you offer isn't even remotely close
