Also sometimes the Player doesnt want to sign either, he's at the point where he could just walk.

Sounds like a "you" problem for whatever team drafted the guy.

I mean it's kinda unfair to the team too in some instances that a player they took a chance on can just walk. Like Adam Fox refusing to play for Calgary and Carolina

Life ain't fair.

Adam Fox isn't a great comparison. He made it clear he was intent on playing for the Rangers, iirc. He fell in the draft because of it and I don't believe there was any compensation in that circumstance because he wasn't a 1st rounder.

Because there aren’t many 1st round picks that end up unsigned, I really don’t mind this

I said Adam Fox because the other players have the same right as a first round pick. Theoretically the player could just walk. Getting the compensation is no different than getting Compensation for RFA's who sign elsewhere tbh.

It's also to keep NHL as competive as possible, which from a buisness side is the ultimate goal.

Got mad at someone and took a penalty in the offensive zone leading to Quinn getting a PP that lead lead to the tying goal

He keeps his cool Minn probs wins 3-1 but nope he gave Quinn to much momentum with that childish play

Jay O’Brien was always unlikely to sign for Philly. After his rough first year at Providence and some off the ice challenges, it appeared PHI had given up on him. Tony Almonte took him under his wing and organized a spot for him on the BCHL team his son was playing for…and followed to BU (which led to the unusual path of NCAA to Junior A back to NCAA).

In a sense, O’Brien has been team Almonte for last couple of years. And now that Tony is employed by Florida Panthers, I believe many expect O’Brien to sign there in August.

makes sense I suppose Oilers have like a dozen forward prospects who are better and younger and he know this to because he told the org he felt it would be to hard to crack the roster. If he was a Dman i would be much more upset
