Jersey wouldn' trade their starter and their future goaltender in the same trade and Toronto wouldn't trade for both either. 2OV does nothing for the Leafs really, if they were to trade Marner, they can trade him to a team that is expected to do bad next year and also did poorly this year and not waterdown his trade value, while also getting pieces they can use now. NJ doesn't need another playmaker, so trading for an 11m playmaker doesn't make any sense (even if he's great at PKing too).

Jersey keeps Holtz, Daws and Blackwood, signs Campbell and keeps their 2nd overall pick, and then with the Marner money sign Gaudreau for free. The Devils are hundred times better off than giving up all that and cap room for three years of 11m Marner.
And after all that, still not a practical roster size.

Hard to turn down a Marner trade. Could be a deal both team passes on. Costs Toronto Malkin.

First person to get Holl's /Kerfoot's value to Seattle correct.

Signing Gaudreau would probably lead to the same result as trading for Marner, you would bleed guys once they are developed though. Trading for Marner would be better for the now (and you can potentially resign him too). Both guys are a redundancy though for big hit so would be a mistake. I don't think Gaudreau kills penalties though like Marner but I could be wrong.

They may be traded to another team for more. Just not Seattle.

Signing Gaudreau is 10x better than trading for Marner
Would much rather have Gaudreau, Holtz, 2nd OA, Blackwood and Daws over 3 years of Marner

*RING*

"Hello, 911, I'd like to report the most ridiculous AGM I've ever seen... Yes... It's about overvaluing Mitch Marner and undervaluing everyone else... Uhuh... Oh and there's something about Malkin and Giroux contracts... I think the guy's in need of immediate medical help."

Yeah, I understood from what you said to mean to Seattle in particular and in a pure cap dump. (If they are interested in either then ofc you would be wrong as well).

If they get dumped to another team for like a 4th or less then you would have been right. If they get moved for 3rd+ or equivalent in assets to another team, I think you would be wrong depending on the size of the return if Seattle has a spot to play them. I think they would for Kerfoot but not so much as Holl. If they sign either next year, for a similar or greater cap hit, then I also think you would have been wrong, since they could have tested them in their lines first/potentially flipped them at deadline and resign them.

No way Giroux signs 3,5m when Malkin signs 11m with same team.
