GIVE YOUR OPINIONS. If it’s stupid go on ahead and roast me. If it isn’t enough let me know. If it’s too much say it. There is a lot happening here I know. But thinking of it deeply. It all makes a lot of sense to me. Maybe, juuuust maybe there’s something bigger brewing then we think

  4. 2024 3rd round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
So to put in to something of a trade at this calibre I would be thinking of the following
Jesper Bratt and a 1st round pick and 3rd for JT Miller and a 3rd
Damon Severson for Conor Garland and a 2nd
NJD
  1. Miller, J.T. ($2,625,000 retained)
  2. Garland, Conor
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (VAN)
  4. 2024 2nd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
The reason I have Bratt in the trade proposal is because New Jersey seems to not want to pay Bratt. Maybe they’d have a better time extending Miller rather than negotiating with Bratt.
Garland and Severson pretty much add up to each other but I could see New Jersey squeezing more out of Vancouver to get them Severson. New Jersey doesn’t really have a high need of cap space if they don’t want to pay Bratt what he’s asking so they bring in Miller and Garland and I suspect Bernier may go on the LTIR freeing up much more cap space for them. So maybe they can even squeeze a 2nd for Severson to get Garland in return.
And if I’m being completely honest. This can be one hell of a blockbuster for both teams to build on. They have been teams linked to each other via potential trades and now there’s still a lot of time to pull off a blockbuster deal and of a big calibre one.
New Jersey has been known for a while to have interest in both Miller and Garland and Vancouver with interest in Severson and with Bratt being a problem for New Jersey maybe Vancouver will have interest in him especially with Patrik Allvin having a love for Swedish players

All three of these hockey trades makes a lot of sense for the Canucks......The Canucks should hire you to help Allvin and Rutherford make an actual hockey trade.

The picks are going the wrong way. Vancouver is paying to get bratt not New Jersey paying you to take bratt. Miller is nice and all but based on his career play, he is unlikely to replicate this past season. Bratt is younger and they could get him for 8 years as well. Miller has no guarantee he resigns and odds are low of him being 2021-2022 miller again. Severson for garland is ok I guess, only see them doing that if there is no chance he resigns. Maybe if Vancouver has a lottery pick going back the devils consider the trade. Very unlikely teams give up their 2023 picks too as is the best draft since 2015.

Don’t see Van taking this trade unless you take out the picks they’re sending to jersey. Garland for severson is fair if severson comes with an extension if not severson and a 2nd for garland and the gap between miller and bratt is worth the unprotected 1st from jersey.

The pieces going back to the Devils aren’t enough for Bratt on their own. I’d be so disappointed if anything close to this trade actually went down.
Think you have to consider moving Quinn Hughes make fair value for Bratt.

Miller, Garland, a 2nd, and a 3rd is a massive overpay for Bratt

Ok bratt had a good full season this year but it's good first real good year yet. That said he is still young and can still get better, tons of potential there. But after just one season of his current production I don't think he has that much value to involve Quinn Hughes. They also shouldn't even entertain the idea of moving Bratt unless they really can't come to an agreement.

If Bratt does have more value than Miller, it's not by much

That take on Severson and garland value isn't very good, Severson even without an extension, likely has more value than Garland on his own. Garland is a career 50-60 point guy that maybe if he gets lucky one year with good line mates gets to be a ppg player. He does bring alot of other tangibles to the game which are great but wingers just don't have alot of value compared to top 4 RHD.

I don't think he does, I think considering his age and potential they are close to a slight edge to bratt. He only has had one really good year so far so could have been a fluke or riding jack Hughes coattails. If I'm jersey I don't trade him at all and see if he can repeat. I'm guessing the stalemate they are having is based on what I mentioned here of him only having one good year and him likely wanting big money and term after being a ppg guy.

Yeah, the further we get into the off-season, the more likely I suspect that Bratt gets a 1 year prove it deal so that way the Devils retain his signing rights next off-season

Bratt drove his own line. Look at his underlying numbers, he did not ride Jacks “coattails”. Not trying to call you out but that’s the problem with Vancouver fans. They see production, production, production and don’t bother doing the research. They see Bratt who had one really good year, but also don’t see the upwards trajectory he’s been on since the start of the league. Fans thinking they can get him AND an unprotected 23 1st is borderline laughable and showcases the biases most have with their own teams (which is fair, everybody is guilty of it to an extent)

To this point, Bratt alone has more Value than JT Miller. Is it by much? No probably not, JT Miller is a fantastic player, who, like Bratt had a really good year (obviously better year). The difference between them is Bratt is 23 turning 24, and Miller is 29 turning 30 on an expiring contract. Even if it was a 1 for 1 swap of the 2 players I think it’s borderline fireable because Bratt is actually that good of a player.

To be frank I don’t think there is a single team willing to cough up what Vancouver fans are expecting for JT Miller and I think he will just end up staying put

Just stop trying to make Miller to NJD a thing...

He didn’t ride Hughes coattails. Bratt produced all year, with or without Hughes in the lineup. You could say the same thing about Miller. He’s never gonna produce like he did this year

Bratt is a cap dump. Devils should give up their 1st to move him. Give us rentals and role players back.

(Good plan?)

I don't watch him at all to know, all I saw was Jack just play unreal. Also not a Vancouver fan and I think this trade is dumb how it is pro proposed. I feel that only thing that could work is Severson for Miller with the devils adding a little bit. Any time o proposed that trade Vancouver fans roasted me for not sending"close to enough" for Miller. They think he's going to return more than eichel.

You’re overvaluing your rental severely. RENTAL

You forgetting the 1st, 3rd, and Severson from the Devils

I would say Severson + 1st + 3rd = Miller

Garland + 2nd + 3rd + Miller retention for Bratt probably favours the Canucks a bit but not extremely far off imo, especially considering RFA Wingers typically get less than expected returns

With Dorion having free range with what he can do now I’m sure he’ll work something out to move Zaitsev. From the moves he’s been making he wants this team to really compete and the moves he’s made has really improved the team on pen and paper. I’m excited to see their results
