Seguin could rebound this year given he's had a full offseason to rest and prepare. I think Benn is fried though.

I think seguin could be a 55-60 pt 2nd line forward. He has declined at even strength for the past 4 years. Great on the PP.

Benn is lucic 2.0

Tbf to Seguin, with his last injury he had to re-learn how to walk, that’s a f*cking hard challenge. With time to recover, and Marchment plus Gurianov as linemates (hopefully) he should have a bounce back year. Marchment is that young and hyper PWF who’s like a lesser version of prime Benn and Gurianov, who has one of the highest skill in all the players in the league (shot and speed), he just needs to give more effort and found more consistency. It’s a truly perfect combo of PWF-PLY-SNP.

Benn has regressed harder than anticipated, but his contract is finishing soon enough. He still brings value, just not 9.5 million of it. He’s a serviceable 3rd line veteran who should help the young guys.

The thing with VGK was they honestly could make noise if everyone was healthy. Lehner being out is a huge loss but maybe this is where Thompson or Hill turn into Campbell 2.0 and rise to the challenge of being a starter and thrive

Gonna have to wait and see but honestly there team has the means to do some serious dmg it just seems that last year wasnt there year

That would be crazy. I think there do for a Huge regression but still sneak a WC spot. That Defense is not it and you can't expect all the surprise standouts last year to do it again.

I agree with the bottom 2. But I think Columbus could shock a few people they were pretty underrated last year and undoubtedly got better. Also, think they have a great culture.

The main thing to me to connect the two is this. If Florida regresses and misses or gets swept or beaten in 5 or 6 by say Tampa or Toronto next year Zito 100% should be on the hot seat or fired

As when was the last time we saw a GM spend the amount of assets he did in 1.5 years. Like how many 1sts did he spend in a single year 4 only to win a single round is nuts

He did spend way too much assets. I think the hope is that I the year 3-8 of Tkachuks contract they'll be able to attract free agents with Cap rising and yandle's buyout ending + Hornqvist contract ends.

True but the other teams will have more assets when it comes to outcompeting Florida for trades and will have the cap space to also spend. Basically those picks Zito spent in that one year could come back to bite him or whoever is in charge. As to me if he had just saved some assets Florida might have been able to make a few more moves to fix their D this offseason but now with no 1sts till what 2027 and not many 2nds its gonna be tough to improve till at least 2024.

Its gonna be interesting to see but man going all in was not the greatest plan. Sakic's approach is more tolerable as he goes in and brings in more depth guys who can make an impact not all the shiny expensive toys. No joke if Zito had done that I dont got a feeling Florida fans would have been all that upset as then they would have had assets to spend this offseason on someone like Chycrun

I argue the best

He turned Ceci into a useable Dman along with Matheson. Wouldnt surprise me if he turns Petry into a serious Norris threat this season

And won a cup with a Dcore comprised of 3rd pair Dman when the injury bug struck.

Yeah I can see that argument. It doesn’t matter who they lose during the regular season, he just puts these random AHL guys in a position to succeed and give them a ton of confidence. I think there was a stretch last year where they won like 7 out of 10 games with an AHL caliber roster

Pittsburgh is weird in that they actually play better sometimes when either crosby, malkin, or both are out of the lineup. Now last playoff collapse was bad but then again they were on their 3rd goalie so meh I give them a one time pass. I got a feeling they are gonna make some noise and hopefully we see NYR vs. Pitt round 2 as there needs to be a revenge arc
