Man, I just... How much more would Thompson have made if they waited a year and he was about on par with this past season? An extra mil and a half? Two? Would rather let him earn a slightly bigger contract and know that he's worth it than throw this type of money at him after one good year in the hope that it becomes a marginal underpay. Don't understand why Buf didn't use the time they had here.

More than that is just not what Dallas does, and to be fair we couldn't even afford it if we wanted.

He didn't even need a bridge to see if he can do it again. He's under his current contract for another year. Buffalo really jumped the gun here.

I found out something cool about one of my coworkers today, not only is he neighbours with Tristan Jarry he was also 2nd cousins with Gordie Howe and knows them both personally

I wasn't knocking their pipeline just the owners skewed viewpoint on young stars getting paid instead of "veterans"

Thompson deal is a lose lose for both sides

Sabres lose because Thompson could fall off a cliff and the contract will look terrible
Thompson loses because he has to live in Buffalo for the next decade

I agree with the bottom 2. But I think Columbus could shock a few people they were pretty underrated last year and undoubtedly got better. Also, think they have a great culture.


Their defense/goaltending is still brutal.

I think this guy is just salty that he has to pay for them when they "don't win." It's like a 54-year-old is having temper tantrums.

I wouldn’t call CBJ’s goaltending brutal, Merzilkins is a very solid starter and their defence should be much better this year, Peeke and Boqvist should improve while Gudbaranson ( overpaid or not ) helps them too
