I rather have Lundkvist over Rathbone and that says something considering I hate the Rangers

I’m taking Robin Salo over both tbh

Crazy how many people don't actually know anything about Rathbone. I'm not saying he is a bonafide first pair d-man, but to say his ceiling is Lundkvist's floor just seems kind of silly considering Rathbone has been much much much better in the AHL and doesn't lack the "upside" you are all talking about. Not a high enough hockey IQ? Pretty ridiculous assesment... Doesn't have good enough pace? Once again ridiculous. His best attributes are his hockey IQ, elite skating, and shot. The only reason he doesn't have an NHL season under his belt is because Benning decided to go get OEL for some reason

Name your top 5 guys on new teams and how they will perform in order. Mine is :

1) Huberdeau
2) Tkachuk
3) Debrincat
4) Fiala
5) Kadri

Honourable mention: Klingberg

Hockey Question of the day

What grade would you give your team this offseason?

For me, Devils get a B+.
Missed out on who I thought we would get but got the second best options. Instead of Gaudreau we got Palat. Instead of Slafkovsky, we got Nemec. Instead of Campbell/Kuemper, we got Vanacek.
Palat is a perfect fit for the Devils but I don't love that contract. Nemec-Hughes pairing will be amazing in the future. The FO still trusts Blackwood so getting a tandem with VV makes sense.
Haula trade was okay. I would have prefered just a pick for Zacha. Marino trade looks great but time will tell
Didn't throw away the future, but still improved

For Me, I'm giving the Flyers a C-
Now, most people would probably give them a F or a J-, what's fair.
But in reality there not good enough to compete so Gaudreau would've been extremely risky with how little our Contending window would be with him. I didn't like Deslaurier's term on his contract I don't think he's a bad player in his role but still bad contract. Tony DeAngelo I think was a good add the flyer's biggest problem has been the breakout and lead to most of our goals against. So he as a puck mover will help. I would've liked them to add another top 6 forward though. Like Burakovsky or Tyler Bertuzzi/Via trade would be nice because it would help our younger players if they had solid linemates around them. Also think their draft was pretty good. Devin Kaplan was my favorite pick.

Fiala (Guys gonna have Kopitar as his C)
Huberdeau (Points might fall a bit without Barkov but he should still probs get 100 with Kadri)
Tkachuck (This could be a disaster and he doesnt do well or he meshes with Barkov and repeats what he did last year)
Kadri (Should perform about the same maybe slightly less)
Debrincat (Still will be good but I just feel Kane was a big part of those high goal and point totals)

HM: Gaudreau (Will we see what happened with Laine or will be see him thrive lets see)

Added some points as to why I think the positioning but yeah its kind of like a oh yeah Gaudreau is with the CBJ now

Should also maybe do regression candidates like who on their new team could see point dips

Stutzle at this moment isn’t as good as Kane but he’s still getting better and no one knows how high his ceiling is but it’s high. And Giroux is much better than Dylan Strome and also a great playmaker . I predict Debrincat finishes with 46 goals

Gotta go:
Huberdeau-Lindholm-Dube/Toffoli
Mangiapane-Kadri-Toffoli/Coleman

In general Kane makes guys look good and Strome was just the guy in the middle as honestly it was mostly Debrincat-anyone-Kane. Debrincat could end up with his best goal total or less. But this is his chance to prove he doesnt need Kane to get the totals hes got

I feel thats probs the plan but would surprise me if we see at some point

Mangiapane-Lindholm-Toffoli
Huberdeau-Kadri-Coleman

And if Pellitar can carry over what he did in the AHL into the NHL we might see him show up somewhere in the top 6

Debrincat has become very underrated but the guy has one of the best shots in the game. Def top 10 over the past 5 years. Someone is going to feed him the puck and he’s going to snipe it top shelf. He’s really good at getting the puck top shelf. He’s also an underrated playmaker and speedy and knows which areas to get to in order to snipe it. He’s also great at zone entries and just flying with the puck and keeping possession of it

Have you not watched Rathbone? Hockey IQ is one of his best attributes.

And I’m saying it’s not on the level of lundkvist. That’s what separates them
