For a team that's as far away as MTL is it worth giving up suzuk caufield and the 5th overall for Bedard?

You see what McDavid is doing, so maybe it is worth it.

Call me crazy, but I'd rather have Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and the two guys I'm going to draft with those other picks than Connor Bedard. I think this Habs team is still more than one player away, so upgrading Suzuki -> Bedard at the cost of Caufield/1st/2nd isn't going to get the team over the hump in my eyes

No it is not, you can't just trade a 60+ point center a 25+ goal scorer and a top 5 pick in an elite draft class and expect one guy to replace all that. Bedard is a special player and probably worth that but I don't think this would be the smartest move.

Before this season, Connor McDavid had won one (1) playoff series, and that was with Leon Draisaitl as his running mate for most of those years. Bedard would probably give you the same type of results - too good to tank, but not good enough to be more than a bubble team.

Bedard isnt Mcdavid, he's great but even with that thought in mind, how many cups does mcdavid have? one player doesnt make your team. Edmonton has 2 of the top 5 scorers in hockey and have still struggled to make any sort of run in the playoffs.

bedard brings something those players wont, hype. The butts in seats, merch sales and 'must watch for bedard' games is worth more than that package can provide the franchise.

Uhhhh ok deal? The combined value of Suzuki, caufield, and let’s say leo carlsson is going to outpace what only bedard himself would bring to AZ.

to be fair, is Montreal really having a "butts in seats" problem? and if they really do need to goose attendance, they can just schedule a few more 45 minute pregame ceremonies honoring someone who was friends with Ken Dryden once

Those 2 combined will always put up more goals and points than Bedard alone

Out of all the players drafted between 08 and 21, McDavid is 3rd most. Third. Out of guys that got a 7 year head start on him (7 and a half with his rookie year injury). Thats absolutely absurd. I can understand not wanting to also include the top 5 draft pick because Yager or Benson will be sick as well. But just Caufield and Suzuki? Im taking Bedard's potential over that package.

Then the poor kid has to hear his name pronounced "Cunher Bédarre" for the rest of his life.
