First, Jason Karmanos may want to balance his RHD with his LHD, so adding Dylan is very logical move.
Second, what has DeMelo accomplished since 2020-Feb-18 to increase his value from third round draft pick to a second.
The two years preceding the trade he scored 42 pts in 140 games, certainly worth a third for a RHD.
Since the trade he has 22 pts in 142 games, it would appear his value has decreased dramatically.
Third, while Buffalo may be in the hunt for a RHD, only three current roster players are older than Dylan, and two could be gone at the end of the year Okposo and Anderson.
When any one scores a goal, they act like a bunch of teen age Junior Hockey players.
At 29 yo, he would not fit into the teams culture.
Fourth, it is highly unlikely Karmanos would be giving up a second for Dylan, more likely a roster player and maybe a low level prospect.
A trade would probably be Bryson (21 pts in 115 games over the last 3 seasons) and a fifth or prospect, but certainly not a second and fifth.
