Going after Vancouver

Created by: Devsfan25

Description
If Holtz is not going to be in a consistent top 9 role, there's no point in having him watch every night. I'd rather him get minutes and improve his speed in Utica. Acquiring someone like Boeser gives us a proven finisher and makes our lineup deeper up front. Defense obviously gets weaker but if we were in the hunt, we could always pick up a cheap 3RD

I think VAN should definitely consider a deal like this.

The problem with Holtz's "speed" isn't his literal foot speed. It's that he's slowing down the offence because he isn't adjusted to the system. That's why he's staying in NJ, he needs to practice with the team.

I really hope Fitz stays away from Boeser. I don't like his game at all.

Vancouver needs to take that deal. Defense will improve drastically and the team might wake up after a big trade like this.

With everything that happened to him injury wise and with the passing of his father, I’m not sure he’s going to be the same guy again. He’s had a rough go of it, and when ur own health isn’t great I consider that to be a giant red flag.

def like Severson for Boeser as a base. Prob prefer a different prospect or a 2nd but this is a good base.

Fair points. But the contrarian in me says it makes it perfect time to buy.

Boeser plays well near net, which is a missing link for us. We need more dirty-goal production from top-six, and less emphasis on breakaways and ‘pretty’ goals. If you have any better suggestions for interior ugly-goal producers, would love to hear them.

Meier can go to the front of the net

Sure, he can, but not really his strength. I don’t really see him as the pick-the-puck-from-your-feet and slam it home type. Brings more value from transition game, even if he can dial-up the heavy along boards.

Also, has a contract situation that could become headache. And the asking price is…sheesh.

Agree Boeser is the safer bet and more on budget. I think NJ should go for it. Meier is better but more expensive and has that contract uncertainty whereas you'd have Boeser for a couple years and I'd think he'd bounce back playing in the US

You would think the contract is negotiated when Sharks allow Fitz to talk with TM and Co.
Boeser sounds like his cooked for all the reasons noted. Drum up a market for Severson and see what ya get.
