Bobcat’s Post Game Notes, Game 31
Jackets lose, 2-1 against the Dallas Stars.
-Some changes in the lineup: Kent Johnson has been put in the first-line center spot between Johnny Gaudreau and Patrik Laine. The fanbase has been screaming about this since preseason. I’m excited to see how they mesh together.
-Boone Jenner goes on IR for a broken thumb, so up comes Joshua Dunne to take his open spot in the lineup. Bemmer and Fix were snubbed.
-Andrew Peeke runs into Mason Marchment, and they both crash into Tarry in the net. Andy looked kinda shaken up after that one…
-This game has looked pretty chippy so far. Lots of pushing and shoving after whistles. Not something I really expected from these two teams.
-We’ve had a lot of time in the offensive zone, but Jake Oettinger has stopped ‘em all. Ilya Sorokin is still my vote for the Vezina this year, but Otter is definitely gonna be a finalist. Man’s a goddamn lunatic!
-Yegor Chinakhov goes off with an upper body injury he somehow acquired, and he’s not returning for tonight. You HAVE to be f*cking joking.
-Gavi then takes a puck to the ear. Ouch.
-Both teams looked very even for the first 20 minutes. We just gotta score first!
-…not even a FULL MINUTE into the second period, Wyatt Johnston capitalizes on a juicy rebound and scores.
-God, this game has been very boring. Both goalies have looked solid so far. That’s really all to report.
-Finally, a penalty! Nils Lundkvist slashes Kenny with 6 seconds left in the second period. With how pushy-shovey both teams have been after whistles, I’m surprised it took this long.
-The Stars kill that one off. Strong defensive play and Otter being Otter really bailed them out there.
-We had a lot of rushes, but Oettinger didn’t even get a chance to get it. Dallas’s defense is ROCK SOLID tonight.
-Not a lot of action until we pull Tarry, and then give up an empty netter with 1 minute left.
-Kent Johnson scores a goal with 15 seconds left, but by this point it doesn’t matter. At least we weren’t shut out?
-Jake Oettinger is a goddamn brick wall. Any lesser goalie would have given up much more than one goal with the amount of shots we gave him. I wholeheartedly respect it.
