Were Too Good

Created by: Yote827
Team: 2022-23 Arizona Coyotes
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 22, 2022
Published: Jan. 3, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
We're too good. This wasn't the plan. The Mullet is hell for opposing teams, and the vibes are off the charts. Anyways, the bottom needs to fall out and we need Bedard/Fantili/Mitchkov/Carlsson almost as much as we need the referendum for the new arena to pass. All trades are assuming we're at the TDL so salaries and cap effects are lower and prices are higher. I do think the Coyotes would be willing to "launder" high cap hit players like Kane and Toews but those deals are a nightmare to do on capfriendly. Anyways here's a team. Also Sabres fans and Sens fans are nightmares which is why I would never do a Chychrun trade to either of those teams. Don't need those problems in my life.
Trades
1.
ARI
  1. Raanta, Antti
  2. Suzuki, Ryan
  3. 2024 1st round pick (CAR)
Additional Details:
Canes are the hottest team in the league with seemingly no flaws. However, their PP is lacking and Ghost would certainly elevate it. He's also a 5v5 upgrade over De Haan on the 3rd pair. The Canes had plenty of success with an all offense defenseman in Tony D and Ghost's point shot heavy game fits right into what they do. Don't fool yourself, the way Ghost is playing and with 50% retention he's worth a 1st and plus prospect.

Suzuki is pedigreed and still a good prospect but he's struggled with injuries and his path to the NHL is crowded with Drury, Gunler, Trikozov, Koivunen, and Ponomarev all ahead of him in the prospect pecking order. Raanta is a luxury that the Canes can't afford as they'll need to get cap compliant when Kase/Patches/Andersen come back and the way Kochetkov is playing he's not going back to the AHL. Raanta also makes the cap work nice.
CAR
  1. Gostisbehere, Shayne ($2,250,000 retained)
2.
ARI
  1. Edvinsson, Simon
  2. Mastrosimone, Robert [Reserve List]
  3. 2023 1st round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
SOMEONE IS GOING TO PAY THE YOTES PRICE. Just accept it, especially with how Chych is playing. And no the 1st rounder standard isn't met just because someone was drafted in the first round, so that means no Zadina, no Veleno who don't have 1st round value. So the price is still 2023 1st round pick + another 1st round pick/or 1st round value + another thing.

The 1st round pick is top 3 protected and becomes an unprotected 2024 if it doesn't transfer. The second 1st is Edvinsson. I understand Wings fans won't like it, but one of Edvisson/Kasper/Cossa has to be in the trade. You're not getting him for Wallinder or Johansson as the premier piece. Chych - Seider is an elite first pair. Chiarot - Hronek is pretty nice too. The Wings accelerated their timeline with Chiarot and Copp and Husso. They go "all in" while staying young with Chych. The final piece is Mastrosimone who already plays at the Mullet, he stays local and the Yotes pick up another depth prospect.
3.
ARI
  1. Puljujärvi, Jesse
Additional Details:
Oilers get a useful player in Ritchie who likely fits what they do better than Pulju and brings that toughness they claim to be in need of. Coyotes give Pulju a chance to have a fresh start like they did with Ritchie and Ghost etc. Oilers save a little on the cap too.
4.
ARI
  1. Walker, Sean
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (LAK)
  3. 2023 3rd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Veggie is single handedly costing us Bedard. He's driven the tank into a ditch. Can't have it. Trust us, we LOVE Veggie but we can't have this. Walked is included to make it cap nuetral and because the Kings are deeper than the pacific ocean on the right side. Copley has been good at righting the ship but Veggie is someone who could take the Kings over the top.

Wings do not do Edvinsson for Chychrun one for one. Just not happening.

Carolina has Burns on the powerplay, that isn't the issue. They need someone that can shoot. Someone like Max Paciorett... HEY! In all seriousness, the Canes powerplay will not be a problem when Pacioretty is activated in the next week or two here.

They need bottom pair help, they need depth wingers. Not Ghost, although he is a real good player. He just doesn't fit this roster right now

Maybe someone pays the Yotes asking price for Chychrun but it won't be Detroit.

I don't think the value is crazy but I can't see yzerman doing it. You could talk me into it, I'm not as high on edvinsson as most people are.

I would accept that offer as the Los Angeles GM, but we tend to spread multi-pick deals out over two years.

I would accept this if it seemed like Quick was aiming to retire after this season.

I would not be opposed to 'Ghost' as an option to add at the TDL, but that price will be too steep. Not using a 1st for that trade. And we won't move a goalie out without one coming in so no help with the cap there. Not sure we'll be able to afford that luxury as our cap space will be tight. Maybe move some other salary out. I wouldn't rule out the possibility but chances might be slim at the moment. It's not our top need. A nice-to-have.
